Cannot connect with my baby

Hi mommies!

How do you connect or console your baby?
My baby is 11 weeks old. I recently came to stay for a month at my mother’s for a month. I have a bit of family here. And If I am unable to comfort or console my baby, I kept being told, that if you were breast feeding, your baby would recognise you and be consoled by you. Right now if feels like anyone can come and console the baby and everyone feels like they are so great at it and baby only loves them hence comforted by them.

I cannot help but feel guilty here. There are so many other comments I keep getting for not breast feeding, which are making me feel worse everyday.

Praise for being a good mom

Hey Ladies,

I want to hear stories of when you were praised by others for being a good or a great mom.
I am recently finding it difficult being a mom, because I’m at my mum’s house and surrounded by so many people, and I keep being told about all the things that I am doing wrong.
When someone asks if I am able to manage my child alone in the city I live in, my mum jumps in saying she has great support of her husband.
While I genuinely appreciate my husband, I don’t see him taking care of his own child as an achievement that needs to be mentioned all the time. It’s his child too. But yes he doing things are all appreciated but I only am told all the things I am doing wrong with my child. Don’t do this, don’t do that, see your child is choking, see this is how a child should be put to sleep, see your child is cold, etc etc etc. it honestly feels like I cannot catch a break.

So I just thought maybe if I hear some positive stories about how you are appreciated for being a good mom, I’d get some great energy.

If you haven’t been appreciated, then I will tell you, “you are doing a fabulous job at taking care of your baby. They don’t know your story and you are doing your best.”

Change bottles every 3 months?

Hello,
I have been exclusively formula feeding my 9 week baby using Philips avent natural plastic bottles. I was wondering if I should introduce different brands or not. Most baby store owners told me to not introduce new brand of bottles but to change the existing bottles every 3 months.

Wanted to understand:

  1. is it required to change bottles every 3 months or is it just a gimmick by store owners for more sales?
  2. If I do need to change the bottles every 3 months then should I stick to the same brand and type of bottle or try out other brands like Pigeon or Como Tomo?
  3. If I do need to change, then

what

  1. to do with the old bottles? How to dispose them off?

Thank you in advance 🙏🏻

Feel guilty for formula feeding and not working

I am mum to a 52day old baby. I had never even considered the option of formula feeding my baby before her birth because in India, exclusive formula feeding isn’t very well encouraged openly.
My baby had other plans and has been exclusively formula fed. I am slowly making my peace with it because I would rather have a fed and healthy baby.
But I cannot stop feel guilty for this. I keep feeling that if I am formula feeding my baby, then I should at least work and earn money or do something since I am not producing milk and anyone can feed my baby. I am not really required so I should contribute some other way.

I have my in laws visit and my mil thinks it’s her duty to feed my baby and wanted to feed my baby all the time without asking me. Like as soon as I or my husband would go to make the bottle, she would take the baby and position herself with the feeding pillow and baby all prepared to feed. Which made me feel real bad as I wondered that if my baby was breast fed then they wouldn’t be doing so. So if anyone can feed my baby, or think that they can, am I really required anymore? Should I go work and earn instead since formula costs money and I should contribute somehow? But honestly the thought of working or being away from my baby is scary. I don’t want to go work as I’d be starting from scratch.

I am in this loop all the time at this point and keep feeling guilty and like a failure for not being able to do the most basic thing as a mom (producing milk) from time to time.

Plastic Canvas Sheet

Hi all,

My mum’s make a project and we require plastic canvas sheets for it. (Attaching reference image)

Local shops are giving it for 300 per sheet. We need around 7-8 sheets so it’s becoming expensive.

The tutorial says it’s a 7 count or less plastic canvas sheet. So it’s sturdy.

Any idea where to get these from?

I ordered on Amazon: 1 seller was a fraud and sent some random items. The ones from SatyamKraft are very thin.
Magic needles does not have it, Pradhan stores has precut versions for purses.

Any references please help? (Online would be better now) but if they ship to Bangalore or mumbai then also works!

Induction of labour due to weight

Hi ladies,

My baby is in single digit percentile with its weight at 35 weeks. Doctor has said that we will induce labour between 37-38 week. Is this normal?

Should I get second opinion?

Rubber plant leaf shine

I have a dark green rubber plant. The leaves get dusty and I wipe them. My MIL said I should occasionally wipe the leaves with olive oil so they shine.

Is this true? Will my plant be okay?
Or is there something else that you’ll recommend?

I am not looking for a lot of shine. Honestly I don’t think I was even looking for shine. I just want my plant to look healthy and be healthy.
