NBA 2K MyCareer/MyLeague Wishlist v1.3: Realism, Reputation & League Immersion Update

A few weeks ago I put together a list of features and improvements I think could make NBA 2K's MyCareer and MyLeague/MyGM modes deeper, more immersive and more realistic. After reading feedback and think of few more ideas, I've updated the list with some new additions focused on realistic career progression, front office influence, contract negotiations, team building logic, and player accountability.

The goal isn't to make the game harder for everyone, its to give players more options. Whether you want an arcade style superstar experience or a realistic NBA career where actions have consequences, there should be settings and options that fit both playstyles.

As always i'm open to feedback, criticism and new ideas from the community. What would you add, remove or change.

[NEW] Smarter Contract Demands and Negotiations in MyLeague/MyGM

Contract demands should be based more on production and accomplishments rather than overall rating, draft position, potential, or reputation alone.

Examples:

A player avg 16 PPG and 8 RPG shouldn't automatically demand $30M+ per year just because they were a former top lottery pick.

A vet with high overall rating shouldn't demand max money if there no longer producing at superstar levels

Players could lose or gain value based in fa/trade market based on month to month/week to week performance and even be affected by on or off-court distractions!

Teams should have more flexibility to offer contracts below max without players immediately refusing and never wanting to negotiate again.

Rookie Extension deals should be more dynamic:

Players who fail to to reach incentives like All-NBA, All-Star appearances, MVP voting, etc. should be more likely to accept team friendly deals.

Not every former top pick should auto qualify for or expect max contract. Supermax and max contact demands should be more tied to actual accomplishments and production.

This would improve roster building, cap management, and make contract negotiations feel much more realistic.

[NEW] NBA 2K Should Add an Annual Top 100 Players Ranking to MyCareer & MyLeague

 One thing I think would make MyCareer and MyLeague feel much more alive is an annual Top 100 Players ranking similar to what ESPN, Bleacher Report, CBS Sports, and The Ringer release before every NBA season.

Every offseason, before opening night, the game could release:

 • Top 100 Players List

• Top 25 Under 25 List

Position Rankings (Top PGs, SGs, SFs, PFs, and Cs)

MVP Odds

Championship Odds

• Most Improved Candidates

• Coach Hot Seat Rankings

• GOAT Watch Updates

The rankings shouldn’t just be based on overall rating either. They should factor in:

Recent production

• Team success

• Awards

• Playoff performances

• Age

• Potential

• Reputation

The best part is that players, fans, and media could react to the rankings.

Examples:

You’re ranked #12 after averaging 34 PPG:

 ”Many analysts believe he was snubbed from the Top 10.”»

 You’re ranked #1:

 ”The face of the league enters the season as the NBA’s highest-ranked player.”»

 A young star jumps from #67 to #28:

 ”One of the league’s fastest-rising stars.”»

 A veteran falls from #11 to #35:

 ”Questions are beginning to emerge about his decline.”»

 I also think the rankings should be imperfect. Sometimes players should be overrated. Sometimes they should be underrated. That’s what creates debates and storylines, just like real-life rankings do every year.

 For MyCareer, it would give players something new to chase besides MVPs and championships.

 For MyLeague, it would be a great way to track who’s rising, who’s declining, and how the league views players from season to season.

 Imagine starting a new season and seeing league headlines, rankings, award odds, and media narratives before Game 1 even tips off. Small details like this would go a long way toward making the NBA world feel more immersive and alive.

 What do you guys think? Would you use a feature like this, and what else would you add to it?

[NEW] NBA 2K Should Add Dynamic GOAT Rankings to MyCareer

 One feature I’ve always wanted in MyCareer is a Dynamic GOAT Ranking system that evolves throughout your career instead of waiting until retirement to determine your legacy.

 The NBA is constantly debating who the greatest players of all time are, yet in MyCareer there’s no real way to see where your player stands historically while you’re actively building your career.

I think 2K should add a Legacy Hub that tracks your place in NBA history throughout your journey.

 • GOAT Rankings

• All-Time Player Rankings

• Position Rankings

• Franchise Rankings

• Active Player Rankings

• Hall of Fame Probability

As your career progresses, your ranking would change based on:

 • Championships

• Finals MVPs

• MVPs

• DPOYs

• All-NBA Teams

• All-Star Appearances

• Records Broken

• Playoff Success

• Longevity

• Career Statistics

• Efficiency and Advanced Metrics

The ranking shouldn’t just be one list either.

 There could be multiple perspectives:

  • Fan Rankings(who value)

 - Rings

- Highlights

- Popularity

- Scoring

  •  Media Rankings (who value)

 - Awards

- Narrative

- Team Success

  •  Player Rankings

 Voted on by current and retired players

  • Analytics Rankings (who value)

 - Efficiency

- Impact Metrics

- Advanced Statistics

 This would create realistic debates.

 Example:

 Fan Rankings:

  1. Your Player

 Media Rankings

  1. Michael Jordan

 Analytics Rankings:

  1. Your Player

 Player Rankings:

  1. LeBron James

 Just like real-life GOAT discussions, everyone wouldn’t always agree.

 The game should also acknowledge major milestones.

 Examples:

• Entered Top 25 All-Time

• Entered Top 10 All-Time

• Greatest Point Guard Ever

• Most MVPs in NBA History

• Most Points in NBA History

• New Franchise GOAT

The media should react too.

 Imagine winning your 5^(th) MVP and seeing:

 «”Many analysts now believe he has surpassed Magic Johnson on the all-time list.”»

 Or winning your 7^(th) championship and seeing:

 «”The GOAT debate may officially be over.”»

 The system should also remember failures.

Things like:

• Playoff collapses

• Blown leads

• Missing the playoffs in your prime

• Repeated first-round exits

• Constant trade demands

 Should impact how your legacy is viewed.

 The best part is that every MyCareer would end differently.

 One player might become the undisputed GOAT.

 Another might become the greatest scorer ever.

 Another could become the greatest defender in NBA history.

 Another might be remembered as an all-time talent who never won a championship.

At retirement, players could receive a complete legacy recap showing:

• Final GOAT Ranking

• Hall of Fame Class

• Position Ranking

• Franchise Ranking

• Greatest Rivals

• Greatest Teammates

• Most Memorable Games

• Career Timeline

I think a system like this would make long-term MyCareer saves much more rewarding because it would finally give players a way to see their place in NBA history while their story is still being written, not just after it’s over.

 What do you guys think? What factors should matter most when determining a player’s all-time ranking?

[NEW] NBA 2K Should Add an Optional “Realistic Mode” to MyCareer

 One feature I’ve wanted for years is a separate Realistic Mode for MyCareer.

 Not everyone wants the same experience. Some players want to average 50 points a game, request a trade to their favorite team, win MVP every season, and just have fun. There’s nothing wrong with that.

 But there are also players who want their MyCareer to feel like a real NBA career where performance, reputation, and decisions actually matter.

 I think 2K should let us choose before starting a save:

 Standard Mode

 - Current MyCareer experience

- No major consequences

- Play however you want

- Request trades freely

- Focus on fun and progression

Realistic Mode

 - NBA career simulation

- Actions have consequences

- Performance matters

- Reputation matters

- Team decisions matter

Some features that could exist in Realistic Mode:

Player Accountability

 - Coaches can call meetings if you’re struggling

- Poor play can lead to reduced minutes

- Players can be benched

- Teams may lose confidence in your development

Realistic Trade Logic

 - If you’re underperforming during a contract, teams can explore trade options

- A rebuilding team may move a struggling veteran

- A contender may trade a player if they’re hurting championship chances

Contract Consequences

 - Teams evaluate actual production, not just overall rating

- Poor seasons hurt future contract value

- Great seasons improve contract offers

- Teams can choose not to re-sign players

Coach & Front Office Trust

 - Trust must be earned

- Playing your role matters

- Team-first players build stronger relationships

- Repeated selfish play can damage trust

[NEW] Expanded Reputation System

 - Separate reputation categories (Team, League, Fans, Media)

- Reputation changes based on performance, attitude, and decisions, media questions, even appearances on podcast outlets

- High team reputation can lead to more minutes and leadership roles

- High league reputation increases All-Star chances and award consideration

- Fan reputation affects jersey sales, crowd reactions, and endorsements

- Media reputation influences narratives, interviews, and public perception

- Negative reputation can lead to criticism, trade rumors, and reduced opportunities

Media & Reputation System

 - Press conferences

- Social media reactions

- Trade rumors

- League narratives

 - Podcast interviews

On-Court and Off-Court Theatrics

 - Technical fouls

- Public criticism

- Locker room issues

- Trade demands

- Poor body language

These actions could affect:

 - Playing time

- Team chemistry

- Endorsements

- Suspensions

- Trade likelihood

Realistic Career Sliders

For players who want even more control:

 • Trade Frequency

• Coach Trust Difficulty

• Team Chemistry Impact

• Media Pressure

• Contract Expectations

• Injury Frequency

• Reputation Gain/Loss Rate

• Fan Reaction Sensitivity

The biggest reason I want this feature is because it would create different career outcomes.

 Not every player should become a superstar.

 Not every player should stay with one team.

 Not every player should win MVP every season.

 Some careers should end with Hall of Fame inductions.

 Others should end as role players, journeymen, fan favorites, or players who never quite reached their potential.

 Most importantly, this would be completely optional.

 Players who want the traditional 2K experience could keep playing exactly how they do now, while players looking for a true NBA

 [NEW] Bulletin Board Material & Motivation System

 Players, coaches, fans, and media can create storylines throughout the season that impact matchups and rivalries.

Examples:

  •   A player ranked above you in the Top 100 says:

 «”He’s not on my level.”»

 • A coach says:

«”We’re not worried about stopping him.”»

• Media members question your MVP case.

• Fans chant overrated during road games.

• Former teammates criticize your decision to leave in free agency.

• Analysts predict your team will lose a playoff series.

These moments can become Bulletin Board Material*.*

 Players can choose how to respond:

 • Ignore It

• Respond Through Media

• Promise A Big Performance

Depending on personality, players may receive temporary boosts to:

 • Confidence

• Aggression

• Hustle

• Rivalry Intensity

• Team Motivation

The system should also remember history.

 Examples:

 • A player who eliminated you from the playoffs becomes a long-term rival.

• A team that swept you in the Finals creates extra motivation in future matchups.

• A player who consistently finishes ahead of you in MVP voting becomes a personal rival.

NPC players who surpass you in rankings or challenge your status can spark ongoing rivalries

Imagine entering a game and seeing:

«”Anthony Edwards has publicly stated he believes he’s the best player in the league.”»

Or:

 «”ESPN ranked you #11 after your MVP season.”»

Or:

«”Your former team is favored to beat you in the Conference Finals.”»

Or:

«” A rising star has overtaken you in the Top 100 rankings and is calling you out."

 Small things like this would make regular season games feel more meaningful and create storylines that naturally develop throughout a MyCareer save.

[NEW] NBA 2K Should Add Front Office Grades to MyLeague & MyCareer

 One small feature I think could add a ton of immersion to MyLeague, MyGM, and even MyCareer is yearly Front Office Grades.

 In real life, every offseason major sports outlets release grades for trades, free-agent signings, draft classes, coaching hires, and overall roster construction. It creates storylines, debates, and expectations before the season even starts.

 I think 2K should incorporate something similar into the game.

 Every offseason, media outlets within the game could release grades for all 30 teams based on:

 • Free Agency Moves

• Trades

• Draft Classes

• Contract Extensions

• Salary Cap Management

• Team Direction (Contending vs Rebuilding)

 Examples:

 Thunder: A+

 - Added a defensive center

- Improved bench depth

- Retained key free agents

 Lakers: C-

 - Overpaid aging veterans

- Failed to address perimeter defense

- Lost depth in free agency

 Hornets: A

 - Acquired future draft capital

- Drafted high-upside prospects

- Committed to a clear rebuild

 The best part is that the grades shouldn’t always be right.

 Just like in real life, analysts can miss.

 A trade that gets an “F” could become a franchise-changing move three years later.

 A team that gets an “A+” offseason could fail to meet expectations.

 The game could even revisit grades years later:

«”What was once criticized as one of the worst trades in the league has now become a cornerstone of the franchise’s success.”»

 Or:

 «”The highly praised 2029 offseason ultimately failed to produce meaningful results.”»

 For MyCareer, this could make the league feel more alive.

 Imagine checking headlines and seeing:

 - Front Office Grades

- Top 100 Player Rankings

- Top 25 Under 25 List

- Championship Odds

- MVP Odds

- DPOY Odds

- Most Improved Candidates

- Coach Hot Seat Rankings

- Goat Watch Update

 Before the season even starts.

 For MyLeague/MyGM, it would provide instant feedback on your decisions and create another layer of immersion without affecting gameplay.

 Small presentation features like this can go a long way toward making the NBA world feel dynamic and believable rather than just a series of menus and transactions.

 What do you guys think? Should the grades be purely media-driven, or should fan reactions and player opinions factor into them as well?

To conclude Top 100 Rankings, Dynamic Goat Rankings, Realistic Mode, and Expanded Reputation System, Bulletin Board Material & Motivation System, Front Office Grades, all together would create a whole new sim experience for the next iteration, What do you guys think? Let me know!!!

P.S. I know I haven't posted last 2 weeks i have been real busy and i won't be posting next week because my birthday on June 30th, so i will try to enjoy that and were right back here 12PM EST on July 7,2026. Until then guys and HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!

~~~~~~~THIS CONCLUDES [UPDATE 1.3]~ (KEEP READING FOR FOR FULL 1.2 UPDATE)~~~~~~~
MyCareer/MyLeague Immersion
• Add a League History tab so we can view past champions, MVPs, Finals MVPs, award winners, retired jerseys, etc. throughout our career.
• Add real contract negotiations with 2–5 year deals, player/team options, no-trade clauses, extensions, and renegotiations.
Player Rivalries Bring back and expand rivalries between players and teams with actual storylines and league impact.
Choose Jersey Swap Let us choose who we jersey swap with after games instead of random players.
Expand MyCourt and make it feel more alive/interactable:
Bigger customizable spaces
More activities/interactions
Ability to invite friends or CPU players from around the league
Mini-games, scrimmages, king of the court, etc.
Add an interactive Trophy Room/MyCourt showcase:
Every trophy displayed individually
Shows year won, opponent played, series stats, season stats, playoff run, etc.
Thumbnail/Gameplay Moment Representation
Example: clicking a Finals MVP trophy shows who you beat and your averages for that series with defining Play/moment in picture
Add more meaningful off-court interactions:
Choices affecting teammate morale
Relationships with coaches/front office
Media interactions
Trade requests affecting chemistry/reputation
Add on-court and off-court theatrics/drama systems**:**
Technical fouls, trash talk, media comments, social media behavior, locker room issues, etc.
Actions should have real consequences depending on personality/reputation
Could impact chemistry, endorsements, minutes, coach trust, fines, suspensions, or even lead to trades/requested exits
Would make roleplaying different personalities/builds way more immersive*This is a big one
• Add a “Legendary MVP Race” system:
Winning MVP every single year gets unrealistic and repetitive
Add voter fatigue/storylines
Random superstar players should occasionally go on all-time great runs to compete with your dominance
Superstar teammates shouldn’t become worse just because they play with you.
Players like Giannis, Brunson, SGA etc. shouldn’t drop from 30 PPG to 21 PPG just because they joined your team or vice versa.
Makes immersion feel broken.
Bring back “Orange Juice”-style Dynamic Duos.
Your co-star should feel just as dominant and important as your player.
Smarter CPU team building logic:
Teams should draft/sign based on actual roster needs
Teams overloaded at one position shouldn’t keep stacking the same archetype
Free agency/trades should make basketball sense
Better tendencies for created/generated players*:*
Elite shooters should actually shoot
Small guards shouldn’t constantly attack the paint if that’s not their playstyle
Tendencies should reflect ratings/archetypes
• Add imported/custom draft classes to MyCareer.(LONG OVERDUE IMO)
• Let franchise players influence team decisions:
Draft targets
Free agency priorities *what we have now is garbage
Coaching/playstyle direction
