Did Joyce correspond with any women when writing Penelope?

I just got back into the book (read through Lestrygonians before taking a long break) and happened upon this question. I was nerding out to my girlfriend about the historical impact of Ulysses, particularly how it serves to de-stigmatize women's enjoyment of sex. Although I haven't gotten to the point in the book yet, I mentioned how Penelope features sexual fantasies from a woman's perspective.

And then she asked me how he wrote it. I was stumped. Turned to Google but didn't find anything. Is it known if Joyce corresponded with any women while writing Penelope? Did he ask any women about their experiences? I'd love to know if there's anything documented!

Need Help Achieving an Effect

I'm a student filmmaker directing a project right now, and there's a certain effect I want to achieve.

I'm linking a video clip as well, but I want to shoot a scene that's in slow motion, intentionally shaky, with a low frame rate and high focal contrast. Does anyone know how to achieve this effect? I get that this is normally a no-no, but should I set the shutter speed below the frame rate? Thank you for the help!

Here's the clip, feel free to skip to 20 seconds in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F105onSsSF0

An alternative reason why Pochita still exists in the new timeline.

Been re-reading part 1. Yes, I know the ending of the manga was unplanned and not good. I know we've speculated to death, but I've not seen anyone discuss this.

So apparently, all the weapons devils are immune to being erased, not just Pochita. Don't really have a theory, just thought this was an interesting detail that could explain his presence in the final chapter.

Need Help

I’m studying abroad in a remote French village for 8 weeks. This is awesome, but I don’t want to lose muscle. I started working out regularly two years ago and have experienced amazing growth. For reference, I’m 20 right now.

They have a sparse amount of workout equipment here, but nothing that I can do for my chest. Does anyone have a good chest day that I can do with no equipment? I can do regular pushups just fine and a few clap pushups. I haven’t tried any other variants. Any help is very greatly appreciated?

TL;DR I won’t have access to any equipment for 8 weeks. Anyone have a good chest day that requires no equipment?

Update on my last post, the trip isn’t happening.

I think I’m sick in the heart, if you can be sick in that place.

What tour should I take?

I may have just been given the opportunity to go to Dublin for a day or two, which is beyond exciting. I’d like to know what’re the best tours to take to see and do as much as I can in a day. What’re the best spots to hit as a James Joyce fan?

For reference, I’ve read Dubliners (love it), Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (one of my top two books of all time), and the first 200 pages of Ulysses (still working through it). What’s the best stuff/tours to do?

New to the manga, and I'm confused about something.

So I'm reading the manga for the first time and really enjoying it so far, but there's one thing I'm not understanding. I just started volume 5, and they're on this arc about catching a serial killer who's hidden amongst a bunch of herring fishermen.

The supporting cast for this manga is amazing, but one character confuses me: the antagonist with the long beard and katana. Should I know what his deal is at this point? I don't really understand who he is, or why he's doing what he's doing. Is he like a mobster? Is he looking for the gold? Tsurumi (goated villain so far) recently name-dropped the bearded guy's name as if he knew him.

I'm just really confused. Is he supposed to be a mystery at this point, or did I miss something? What's the organization he's in charge of?

TLDR: I'm on chapter 39, and the bearded guy with the sword makes no sense to me. Am I supposed to understand what his deal is at this point?
