Worth it to go on UC before master’s in September?

I’ve been looking for some part time retail jobs but anytime I apply I get ghosted. I don’t even get called in for an interview. I have been doing some volunteering at a local charity shop just to gain some experience but I’m scared that won’t be enough.

My parents have told me to apply for universal credit just until I can either find a job or go back to do a masters this September.

But would it be worth it go on universal credit to begin with? Or should I just bind my time and apply for the masters loan this June for the September semester?

My brother doesn’t have a good male role model

He’s 14 years old and has behavioural issues. He doesn’t do homework, clean up after himself and gets detention regularly. My dad is in his 50s and an immigrant. Because my dad always worked while my brother was younger, my brother doesn’t know the native language my dad speaks.

And now it’s starting to show itself as he’s growing older. Because my brother of course won’t understand or take my dad seriously when he reprimands him because he doesn’t understand the language my dad speaks.

I feel bad for my brother. Young boys need a good male role model nowadays but it’s obvious he doesn’t have one. And there’s no one to really control him or teach him right from wrong now. There’s only so much a mother or a sister can do to teach their younger brothers about behavioural issues, homework, school, jobs, life in general.

Do companies not want to hire people?

I just started a volunteering with an organisation and not kidding they have like 10-13 different volunteers. Some of these volunteers work a full 8 hour shift and they don’t even get paid! And some of them make mistakes but they don’t get let go of.

Is it genuinely that there are no jobs or do companies not want to hire people because it costs too much so they’ve managed to work around this by just taking on volunteers desperate enough to work for free just to gain some experience and do something with their time?

I currently have an iPhone 13. Have had it for 2 years now. It will be 3 years this November.

I’m 22F and all my phones have always been an iPhone for daily use - calls, texting, doomscrolling, social media, watching videos, shows etc. first I had the iPhone 6, then the X and now the 13.

Recently though I have grown a bit annoyed with my phone usage including battery running out fast from 80% - 50% in like 2 hours, even when I’m not using it, overheating when I use it too much, when it’s charging, glitching etc. Essentially it’s a phone that cost 600 or so pounds but the battery is bad, glitches, overheats so it feels like I can’t use it that much at all. It’s fine when I don’t use it too much but for a phone I bought I obviously want to use it a lot.

This has all started since I upgraded to iOS 26. It appears to me that later iPhones released after 13,14 don’t work so well on this iOS. Which is something I think Apple does on purpose to get people to buy a new iPhone 🙄

I am looking to buy a new phone perhaps soon. But I’ve grown a bit disillusioned by iPhones now and kinda wanna try something new.

I’ve never wanted to buy anything new because familiarity with iPhone, everything is on my iCloud, I also pay 99p for extra iCloud storage, and I love the smaller base iPhone options that Apple provides.

But the google pixel 10a seems small enough to be perfect for my hands.

What shall I do? Is it worth it to buy a google pixel? Shall I switch?

I’ve watched invincible, daredevil born again - ready to watch the episode releasing tmrw - and now I’m in a slump. I don’t know what to watch and I have Disney plus - with many shows at my disposal. 😭

I’ve watched all the marvel/Star Wars shows so that’s out of the box. I’ve been watching a lot of movies on Disney plus recently but can’t decide on a tv show that’s gripping enough for me to watch it.

I’ve already watched half of the first episode of twos show and moved on cuz I got bored.

Please recommend some tv shows - thriller, comedy, drama?

Anything really. 🙏
