Household restrictions are RIDICULOUS!

I'm sure I can't be the only one with this issue? I have two houses, and spend about 50% in each place. I am the account owner, and have two TVs each place, with Apple TV boxes plugged into all of them. Disney does not believe this situation can exist, because it keeps telling me that I'm away from my household.

- I've set one as my "primary" household, and use "Im away from home" at the other.
- There are a limited number of "I'm away from home" requests you can make.
- I have to call customer support to reset everything periodically
- The "Extra Member" does not share and profiles or history and can only stream to ONE device at a time.

Somehow Netflix and every other streaming provider seems to be able to work with this, Disney+ is the only one that does not work in my situation. I'm already paying money for their premium offering, why can't they just make it easier to watch?

Please Disney, fix your very very broken restrictions. Please take my money and let me watch the shows I want to, where I want to!

Disney+ recs for 20-30 minute breaks: cozy, low-spoiler shows

My weeks have been pretty chaotic, and I have a weird habit of watching Disney+ on my phone during short breaks. I live in a noisy city, use earbuds, and mainly watch on the subway, at lunch, or while waiting in line. I also do a lot of crafts at home, like crocheting and sorting supplies, so I need something I can dip in and out of.

Looking for show recommendations that work well in 20 to 30 minute chunks and do not punish you if you miss a minute or two. Not asking for tech help, just good picks.

What I'm hoping for:

- Mostly episodic or very light continuity

- Cozy, funny, or feel-good vibes

- Not too loud or intense since I watch at low volume a lot

- Episodes around 20 to 35 minutes

What does not work for me: heavy lore, big mystery plots, or anything where skipping one scene ruins the whole episode.

Any comfort rewatches, animated series, or low-stakes reality/documentary shows on Disney+ that fit this? Bonus points if I can count stitches while it's on without constantly rewinding.

Had to cancel my subscription…

First of all, $19.99 a month for soooooo many ads. Like so many. Ads longer than when we were kids and they were so long our parents would make us lunch during commercials. Except these ads are ALL prescription medication ads…. Crazy bc it’s CHILDREN who are supposed to be watching these Disney movies. Depression medication, diabetes medication, medication on top of medication. Had to cancel.

Thai, Indonesian & Malay Audio Tracks Are Starting to Appear on the global Disney+ platform

It looks like Disney+ in Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia may soon be integrated into the main global Disney+ platform.

Over the past few days, I’ve noticed Thai, Indonesian, and Malay audio tracks/subtitles appearing on selected movies and series. So far, though, I haven’t seen any Thai subtitles yet. I’m guessing the rollout of these additional language options will continue gradually over the next few weeks.

Here are some titles that already have dubbing available in at least one of these languages:

Series

  • Agatha All Along (Thai)
  • Andor (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • A Shop for Killers (Thai)
  • Big Mouth (Thai)
  • High Potential (Thai)
  • Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Thai)
  • Phineas and Ferb (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Pupstruction (Malay)
  • RoboGobo (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Scrubs (Thai)
  • Star vs. The Forces of Evil (Thai, Malay)
  • Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • The Book of Boba Fett (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • The Owl House (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Quack Pack (Thai, Indonesian)

Movies

  • 101 Dalmatians (1996) (Thai)
  • Avalon High (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Cinderella (1950) (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (Thai)
  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2021) (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Disenchanted (Thai)
  • Flubber (Thai, Indonesian)
  • Freaky Friday (2003) (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Geek Charming (Indonesian)
  • Hannah Montana: The Movie (Indonesian)
  • Hocus Pocus 2 (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Let It Shine (Indonesian)
  • LEGO Disney Princess: Villains Unite (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Mary Poppins (Indonesian)
  • Peter Pan (1953) (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Pinocchio (1940) (Thai)
  • Pretty Woman (Thai, Indonesian)
  • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Thai)
  • Sister Act (Thai)
  • Sneakerella (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)
  • Teen Beach Movie (Indonesian)
  • The Lizzie McGuire Movie (Thai, Indonesian)
  • The Parent Trap (Thai)
  • TRON: Ares (Thai)
  • Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (Indonesian)
  • Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 3 (Thai, Indonesian, Malay)

The big question now is when this transition will officially happen.

Personally, I think it’s long overdue for these regions to move over to the global Disney+ platform. Hopefully the Philippines, Africa, and the Middle East will eventually follow as well. Consolidating everything into a single global platform would eliminate a lot of unnecessary duplicate infrastructure and hopefully allow Disney to focus on long-standing issues instead.

P.S. One interesting detail: on the mobile app, “Bahasa Indonesia” is simply labeled as “Indonesian,” unlike on desktop. Meanwhile, “Bahasa Melayu” seems to be labeled consistently across platforms.

New Disney+ player update: anyone else accidentally opening the subtitle menu?

Disney+ updated the player on my TV this week and moved the audio and subtitle options. Now I keep accidentally pulling up the subtitle menu when I try to do simple things like pause or scrub.

I share an apartment with one roommate and we usually have Disney+ on as low-key background noise while I meal prep or wash knives and cutting boards. I am not staring at the remote - I'll glance up, hit what I think is back or down, and the little audio/subtitle panel appears and covers part of the screen. Then I fumble, change the subtitle style or language by mistake, and it takes a second to get back to the show.

It is not a huge deal, but it happens enough that it is driving me a bit nuts, especially when I am mid-cooking and my hands are messy and I am trying not to touch the remote too much.

For people who have the new layout, did you get used to it after a few days? Any remote navigation habits or tricks that stop you from triggering it all the time while you are watching casually? I am not looking for tech support, just tips that actually helped other viewers.

'Ella Enchanted' TV Series EP'ed By Anne Hathaway In Works At Disney+

EXCLUSIVE: A cult classic fairytale movie starring Disney royalty is getting a series adaptation at Disney+. The streamer has landed for development Ella Enchanted, a TV series based on the 2004 Miramax film, Deadline has learned. The film’s star, Anne Hathaway, is executive producing the potential series, which is written by Ilana Wolpert (Anyone But You), with Beth Schwartz (Dead Boy Detectives) as showrunner, and co-produced by Miramax Television and Paramount Television Studios, I hear.

In it, when 16-year-old Ella of Frell — cursed at birth to obey every command — is sent to boarding school after her mother’s untimely death, she begins to uncover the truth about her curse, builds an unlikely found family, and deals with an extremely inconvenient crush on the prince of her kingdom.

The series, now in early stages of development, keeps the basic premise of the movie and Gail Carson Levine’s book it was loosely based on — it centers on the eponymous teen girl stuck with the unfortunate “gift” of obedience. But it’s pulling away from being largely a Cinderella retelling romantic fantasy by giving the story a coming-of-age feel with a boarding school setting, which is not in the film. Four chapters in Levine’s novel chronicle Ella’s stay at a boarding-style finishing school for girls where she is mercilessly bullied but also finds a best friend. The boarding school backdrop of Ella Enchanted also echoes Wednesday‘s reframing of the Addams Family lore.

Update of the video player as well as the audio and subtitle options on the global Disney+ platform

Today, Disney+ rolled out an update to the video player as well as the audio and subtitle options on its global platform.

The audio and subtitle menu is now located in the bottom-right corner. The large selection window has also been replaced with a smaller one that requires scrolling through the available options.

I also feel like switching between audio tracks is noticeably faster now.

There are three things I noticed where I’d still like to see some improvements/additions:

  • The audio menu still doesn’t indicate which track is the original language/audio.
  • I would swap the positions of the audio and subtitle options. Since the third menu is for subtitle settings, the order should be: Audio → Subtitles → Subtitle Settings.
  • In the German UI, the language is initially displayed in English (for example, “German”). Only after clicking the individual options does it correctly switch to “Deutsch.” That seems like a bug that will hopefully be fixed soon.

What’s your opinion on the update?

Did you guys like Send Help?

I kinda regret taking a while before watching Send Help. I just saw it and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it and kinda like Sam Raimi going back to these type of movies ala Drag Me To Hell. Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien were amazing. I don’t know what genre of movie it is under… Comedy Survival Horror?

Did yall like it as much as I did?

logging out constantly as a predatory tactic

My stupid conspiracy theory is that Disney+ purposely doesn't keep us logged in an attempt to get people (grand parents mostly) to sign up for the service multiple times. Every other service keeps me logged in and makes logging in easy. I am constantly having log in issues with Disney+ and Hulu. I am not looking for help on this just venting.

Billing questions on legacy bundle

Was thinking of switching my live tv to Hulu+live tv and was doing the match from my provider now plus what I pay for the Disney+ legacy bundle I have which has Hulu with ads and ESPN+. When I went to check my monthly payment on that I noticed I paid a 21.99 up until August 2025 and then it decreased to 10 bucks then went to 12.00 in November.

Not complaining about paying less just trying to make sense of this cause now I may just keep my current set up instead of cancelling everything and and getting the “Hulu+Live TV, Disney+, ESPN - premium”

Anyone else have this decrease or can explain why?

Anyone else use Disney+ as a low-pressure background while doing hobbies? What works for you?

My weeknights are a mess lately: work, kid stuff, and then I finally get 30 to 60 minutes to myself. I'm a board game person, so a lot of that wind-down time is spent punching tokens, sorting sleeves, or skimming a rulebook for a game I probably won't see on the table for a month.

Disney+ has quietly become my go-to background noise. It usually has clear dialogue, low stakes, and won't ruin anything if I glance away to hunt for a tiny cardboard tile on the floor.

The issue is I keep falling into the same comfort rewatch loops and I want to branch out without accidentally picking something that demands my full attention or gets heavy.

What are your favorite Disney+ picks for half-watching like this?

My ideal:

- Episodic, or at least easy to follow if I miss a scene

- Not super intense or bleak

- Good for subtitles on and low volume

- Bonus if episodes are short

Not asking about missing content or app problems, just looking for recs or how you personally use Disney+ as a cozy background channel. Thanks!

Looking for calm, episododic Disney+ shows for late-night feeds (not toddler stuff)

New parent here. I do most of my late-night feeds and contact naps with subtitles on, volume low, and my brain half asleep.

I'm after recommendations that are:

- Episodic or lightly serialized, so missing 10 minutes won't ruin things

- Calm and low-stress, nothing horror or heavy drama

- Not aimed at toddlers or preschoolers (I've got daytime kid TV covered)

- Ideally 20 to 45 minutes per episode

- Bonus if the subtitles are clear and it doesn't rely on rapid-fire dialogue

What works for me: chill travel or behind-the-scenes docs, low-stakes reality, and comfort shows that are rewatchable.

What does not: constant shouting, big cliffhangers, or loud action set pieces. I like Star Wars, but most of those shows wind me up at 1am.

What are your go-to Disney+ comfort watches for late-night feeding duty? I'm also open to specific seasons if a series starts slow or gets too intense later on. Thanks!

What tv show would you pick and why?

Wizards of waverly place of Hannah Montana ?

For me it’s wizards of waverly place because I love the show so much and the humor it’s my favourite and I also love wizards and Alex is my favourite

And I never really got into Hannah Montana, watched a lot as a kid but was never really my favourite

Hot take: Disney+ should add a true "short episode" filter (not just "because you watched")

I travel a lot for work and most of my Disney+ watching happens in tiny gaps: waiting to board, in the back of a rideshare, or with 12 minutes before a meeting. I know the obvious answer is to watch a movie in chunks, but I hate starting something when I know I cannot finish it.

What I want is for Disney+ to treat short viewing as a real way to use the app, not an accidental side effect of the Continue Watching row. Give us a proper filter you can apply anywhere: "Under 10 minutes," "Under 20 minutes," "Under 30 minutes." Not another recommendation shelf or a collection that goes stale. A filter that searches across series and specials and includes animated shorts, behind the scenes clips, and any episode that fits the runtime.

Right now the app is great at guessing what I will binge next, but not great at helping me pick something that matches the actual time I have. I end up doom-scrolling or defaulting to the same comfort stuff because I know the pacing.

Let me choose the session length first, like music apps let you make playlists by duration, and I think Disney+ would get more watch time out of people who watch in micro-sessions. Anyone else do this and feel like the app fights you on it?
