HHHHEEEE’SSSSS BBBAAACCCCKKKKK

Got Tux, now known as Mister Tux, yesterday. He is completely adorable and is getting along nicely with his sister, Bee. He will bark at her and she quickly “nopes” out and goes to bed.

THOUGHT I’d share this chunk clocked in at 17.6 pounds at the vet…and estimated adult weight is 110.

Gonna need a bigger boat.

DRAMA QUEEN

First off - my dog is fine. Has DLSS and got a steroid injection in spine.

Secondly - tell me you’re a drama queen without telling me you’re a drama queen….100% could walk but hard passed at the thought.

Pregabalin Side Effects

11.5 Rottie, female, spayed, 82.5 pounds.

Anyone have a dog on Pregabalin and notice it makes them super loopy, more wobbly and dulls their personality? I worry the dose might be too high but then you run into the possibility of breakthrough nerve pain. My vet wants to switch my girl off 100 MG Pregabalin to 2 MG morphine twice a day but neurosurgeon isn’t too keen on it. It’s for management of DLSS.

Puppy?

Hi! Chicagoland area. Am interested in finding a breeder that leaves their Rotties tail intact. Not looking for a puppy ASAP but wanted to start research.

Steroid Question

My dog(11.5 female spayed Rottie) is having a series of spinal steroid injections and also is on 10 MG of prednisone once daily (being tapered). All of this is administered by a neurologist.

Her back legs seem not as steady - is this a side effect of the steroids itself or is it the DLSS? I talked with a PT person today and they said steroids are good for pain and make legs weak. Never heard that before.

Anyway, we go to neurologist Monday so can ask then I suppose but thought a second opinion might be wise. She’s got a few things going on and all I care about is making these last months the best they can be. We all want that for our fur babies, right?

DLSS and Cyst in chest

Hi! 11.5 year old Rottie, diagnosed with DLSS and cyst in chest.

Surgeon is putting her on spinal steroids for DLSS. Cool. It’s helping. She was and is 100% able to walk on her own. Prescribed a new medication called Pregabalin. I guess it’s the “new” Gabapentin.

However. They found a mass in her chest 3 ribs big. Did a fine need aspiration and it is consistent with a cyst. Surgeon said cautiously optimistic for now but get x-rays in 3 weeks to check for growth. If it does grow, I have to speak to another surgeon. I guess I don’t know next steps? Would it be drained? If it’s cancer, I guess I’ll tackle that as it comes.

Quality of life is still very good (eating and drinking are normal) and was told she keeps defying the odds. Plus, it’s not her time to go. I believe many dog owners would agree with me they know when it’s time to let go. I’ve been through it. That feeling is like no other but not once have I had it.
