My first time attempting macro, any tips?

I have a very basic Canon R100 macro that came with a kit, i'm not too sure how to use it but i'm taking quality camera classes over the summer. I probably should have watched a tut before using it lol. Any tips?? (i've sinced watched a few tuts but have yet to use it again)

I think my mom just refuses to use my preffered pronouns, and it's really messing me up. How do I tell this to her?

15 AFAB, i'm not quite sure what I am yet but I prefer He/They pronouns, it makes me really happy whenever i'm called that but it makes me physically cringe whenever i'm called a girl, lady, she/her, etc. We made an agreement that anywhere in public, in the house, and with certian people she should use he/they and refer to me as a boy. I've been out for maybe two months? And one month for this agreement. She RARELY uses he/him, and went on a gaint rant about how they/them is not gramatically correct and non-binary people should find diffrent pronouns because it's wrong. She is an ENGLISH teacher btw, she should know that they/them pronouns were even used in Shakespeare n shii. Anyway, whenever she uses the wrong terms, I automatically say, "Who?" because she is literally not refering to me. It has become habit. Yesterday, she said, "*name*, stop doing that every time." You have used my preferred pronouns *maybe* 25x the WHOLE week, I think I still do?? I get you have been calling me she/her for my entire 15 years, but i'm (mostly) passing in public and it really hurts when I get my cover blown. I told her if she makes mistakes it's ok but just try her best, and I don't think she really accepts me. Any advice to tell her (again, this is the fourth time, she just tells me to grow thicker skin) that it is really affecting me? Sorry for long paragraph, i'm just hurt a bit.

I'm in the middle of baking a birthday cake and I saw the oil best by date was 4/04/26. It is cloudy at the bottom and has all these stringy bits?? I'm in a crunch to get this made so a quick yes or no is ok. (Stored in a cabinent abpve the microwave)
