My first time attempting macro, any tips?
I have a very basic Canon R100 macro that came with a kit, i'm not too sure how to use it but i'm taking quality camera classes over the summer. I probably should have watched a tut before using it lol. Any tips?? (i've sinced watched a few tuts but have yet to use it again)
Macro for idiots please
OK, so here’s the deal. I know nothing about photography outside of what I can do on an iPhone, but I love insects and invertebrates and would love to get into macro photography for those reasons. Is there a macro for idiots guide? And/or any other starting from scratch macro guides that you guys would recommend. For what it’s worth, I have a Canon EOS T1I with a few lenses, but the one I think I should be using?????? Is my 1.1m EFS 55-250mm. But I could be way off base so please, throw any and all advice at me!! No research has gone into Camera or lenses, I am just using what I already own.
Lady beetles from the backyard
A few little lady beetle friends I found hanging out last night 🐞🌿
Couldn’t pick just one shot so I threw a little collage together. The tiny details on these guys are insane once you get close enough …. especially that weird little “M” shape on their faces 😅
Shot handheld on the Sony A7R III + Laowa 90mm 2x Ultra Macro
Lit with the Neewer Z2 Pro and AK diffuser. Mostly around f/8 at 1/160–1/250.
Macro photography has me noticing stuff I’d normally walk right past.💜
Moths, Standoff, and Storms Past
Been a few days since we had quite a few storms roll through high winds and colder temps but I did manage to get out last night and find mostly moths but also a lady bug larva and a weevil face to face haha
Today, May 20th, is World Bee Day. Since I love photographing bees, here are some of my photos.

Casual photographer, tips on increasing focus field?
Due to my vision degrading I haven't been able to use my actual camera in years and have been using my phone instead. I'm debating getting a newer camera that I can hook up to my phone for a larger screen, but that's another discussion.
I've been using Apexel's 2in 12x/24x Macro Lens to get up close to buggies, but the focus field on it is suuuuper short. For example, I can get a bug's head in focus but not it's legs. I'm a complete noob when it comes to camera settings and what they do, so I have a few questions I hope y'all can answer:
Is "focus field" even the right term?
Does the lens itself impact focus field at all?
If it does, do y'all have any recommendations for a phone lens that would increase it?
Should I just bite the bullet and go with a camera that I can hook my phone up to?
Tiny explorer.
A few years back, I inherited a nikon 60mm this was one of my first macro shots. bees make me think of astronauts, exploring strange new worlds, after taking this.
Dicyrtomina minuta and Nigma puella.
