Morning Dew

Only managed to find this lady bug this morning before the mosquitos decided I was an all you can eat buffet 😅

Flower crab spider with prey

I caught these guys while shooting bees on some backyard cone flowers. When the bee stopped buzzing, I searched around for the source and found this.

Stacked photo shot with an OM-3, 60mm OM macro lens, and Godox V860iii. 1/100, f8.

A few photos of bugs, insects, spiders... in general

I'm not an entomologist so I can't provide their names exactly, but if you have any questions, I can help

The last photo is a bonus

Macro with extension tube, godox it32, DIY diffuser

Shot with an EF 50mm f/1.8 STM, 36mm extension tube, Godox iT32 flash, and a homemade diffuser made from a styrofoam tube and two disposable paper plates. Setup photos attached.

Honestly, it worked better than I expected. The diffuser helped soften the flash nicely and kept the highlights on the ladybug much smoother.

Would you recommend the tamron 90mm f2.8 vxd e mount, or is there something better?

Hi

I have been enjoying doing some macro photography with a cheap second hand sony 30mm f3.5 on my a6700, i would like to upgrade as i find the distance from the subject quite difficult to manage with how close you need to be, it often scares away the insect. I have been looking around and the tamron 90mm f2.8 vxd looks quite good but im not sure if theres something else that i should be looking at, like one of laowa ones, though i find having AF to be quite handy as i struggle with moving camera to focus technique.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

🔥Some see a monster. Others see a masterpiece. The difference isn’t the creature—it’s the perspective.

Inky fingerprint on a male Demoiselle damselfly

I've been obsessing over these guys for a couple of weeks and finally went out and got the shot I wanted.

I really was fixated on their wings, particularly how the blueish-black splodge on their wings looks like an inky fingerprint.

They are possibly my favourite insect ever. They look so beautiful in flight.

Taken in Sussex, UK.

Backyard Visitors Upclose

Always amazes me what you can find in your backyard! First three are live subjects, last 2 (sweat bee and horse fly) are deceased. (found deceased). Been practicing and learning every week. I've definitely been getting faster and better results with my stacks. I have been hunting for new subjects that I haven't captured before, but a lot just comes down to luck (if I can find them).

Shot on the Sony A7IV with 100mm f2.8 GM Macro and the 2x Teleconverter with a product box and using a tripod. Stacked shots using Helicon Focus.
