Shark Cabin 2 day weekend stay for 40 something parents who haven't been to Thorpe park for 14 years

Hi all

Due to stay in the cabins over the weekend at end of september with the Mrs. Prior to 2013 we've both been annual pass holders and used to go a lot when weather was bad as it meant we got more rides in.

Seems to be a few new rides etc compared to the old days, but the question is how to best make the time work for us. ie we get 10-11am of fast pass on day 2 but not hyperia it seems.

We also got a dining package, so any tips on that as well appreciated.

New care safety features have made driving more dangerous and reduced driving standards

Adaptive cruise control, speed bongs, attention bongs, EV acceleration performance, stopping bongs, pulling away bongs, parking sensors, auto lights, auto wipers etc etc

All of these things have reduced skill levels, reduced attention span and created a lazy generation of drivers who are only interested in the few feet infront of their bonnets.

Possible new injury following surgery.... give me a reality check

Hi all

August 2024 I torn my meniscus. 6th May 2026 I had surgery - a horseshoe shaped trim which removed 2 tears.

Had been doing lots of squats, lunges, plenty of 4+ mile walks in the weeks following and felt really strong, no pain and felt ready to push on a bit.

12th July (9.5 weeks post op) I decided to jog a little bit. Following day my knee had swollen up 2 x the size of my normal knee. Have been icing, elevating, treating it as best I can in the hope that it is just blown up because it hadnt been used like that in 2 years.

So I'm now 9 days post that little jog and its still a little swollen and walking is possible, but uncomfortable.

How long do I leave it before I phone the doctors to talk to someone? I was thinking 2 weeks as then I've given nature a chance to calm it down, or am I kidding myself and should be talking to someone sooner.

I had my 6 weeks meeting with the surgeon, who discharged me as everything was on track.

I'm assuming this is "normal" in week 5 of recovery?

Hi all

5 weeks ago I had a meniscus trim and I've got to say that things have been excellent since, recovery has been going well and I feel like I'm on track to being able to exercise again properly..... despite it taking nearly 2 years to get to this point.

One thing though thats got me asking this question..... suddenly in the last couple of days my overall soreness around the whole knee has increased. It also feels "stiffer" when I stand up having been working for a period of time (sat using a laptop).

I'm assuming that its just where I'm using the knee more "normally" and its having to get used to life again. What do you think?

Pompeii for 4 nights

Hi everyone

My wife and I are flying into Naples mid October this year and this is the broad plan so far.

Sunday - land in Naples around 11am, spend the afternoon there then travel down to Pompeii where we will stay for 4 nights.

Monday - spend the whole day exploring Pompeii with a short guided tour then the rest by ourselves. Evening dinner in pompeii.

Tuesday - guided tour/hike path of the gods.

Wednesday - mount Vesuvius hike and Herculaneum visit

Thursday - fly back to UK early morning

Is there anything obviously stupid with that plan? Any must do or must not do?

At the moment we only have flights booked. So the world is out oyster

Heavy guy, budget trainer, returning from surgery

Good morning everyone, UK runner here. (Although haven't run properly for a decade).. 45, 108kg, meniscus surgery last week, aim for the short term is (once I'm able) to build up to regular 5k distances.

I have run a bit before, 2010/2011+2013 London marathons and back then I had a brooks stability trainer.

I know the answer is to go get fitted....but... I'm looking for a short term (budget sub £100) shoe that will just get me back into running and be become just a walking shoe in 6 months time.

Any recommendations?
