It’s the little things…

… that continue to impress me about the F2 that’s been running every day here for almost a month. When it’s scheduled to vacuum and mop a room with one of our area rugs it first vacuums the rug which I expect. But unlike with previous robots I’ve had I can then pick up the area rug and it will vacuum and mop where the rug was. My other robots wouldn’t recognize the carpet had been removed and act like the obstacle was still there and avoid that area..

Update - apparently I spoke too soon… now it’s back to refusing to clean carpet similarly to glitch I was experiencing a couple of weeks ago 🤦🏻‍♂️

Reviews for X12 on Ecovacs Site

Been watching the X12 on their website to see how the initial reviews were coming in - found it pretty strange that they went from just a handful to almost 200 averaging 4.8 overnight, but when you scan down through them they told on themselves - they’ve added stellar reviews for a handful of their other models into the mix. Shame on you, Ecovacs - for doing this mine due to arrive today will be returned unopened

Still trying to wrap my head around latest VW rankings

Flow 2 just moved down to 14th place?? I’ve had mine for 3 weeks and granted, it has a couple of glitches that need to be ironed out, but it’s a solid performer all around

So again, 14th place???

Bragged on my F2 yesterday but now a gripe

Love the machine - love how it performs, how it moves around confidently and quickly, how it navigates well doesn’t get stuck, etc

But the lack of response from their customer service is unacceptable and may mean this thing goes back through no fault of its own

Sent email to their customer service 6 days ago laying out 3 issues I’m having and asking them to either help me resolve them or provide a return authorization

Issues were 1) after 2 weeks it abruptly stopped clearing our 4 rugs treating them as an obstacle - gratefully another user here told me he had same problem and how to fix 2) it correctly identified those 4 rugs when it mapped and even though it’s now cleaned them 2 dozen times it identifies them as new carpet every single time and me telling it to use the default setting to clean them in the future doesn’t stop it from identifying them as new carpet again and again and 3) the unlimited object recognition and sending picture to the cloud to use AI to identify ones it doesn’t have stored onboard is complete BS - it doesn’t work - basically it identifies everything as a shoe or other and no amount of me telling it that’s wrong and picking one of its limited list of common objects and correcting it stops it from just re-identifying it as a shoe again next time

Yes these are mere nuisances but I’m concerned about the support I’m going to get after my 30 days are up and I’m under 1 year warranty or worse extended warranty if something major like a hardware failure occurs

I’m being told their customer support is in China and they have some national holiday but honestly that’s not my problem

By contrast I’ve also been testing a new Ecovacs model and have had several occasions to reach out to them. I’ve heard so much on here about how bad their customer service is but my experience doesn’t line up w that
Each time I start a chat in 1 minute flat I’m talking to one of their pleasant US based customer service reps - usually Maggie we’re on a first name basis now - in Grand Prairie TX and I quickly receive real help and have a pleasant experience

Truth is the N probably mops slightly better and is faster and navigates more confidently than the E but if you asked me right now which one gets to stay and which one goes I’d probably sadly say the N goes just based on the difference in after sales support

2 Weeks & 4 days with the Flow 2 Initial Thoughts

Full review forthcoming but at this point all I can say is WOW! what a pleasant experience. Those who know me here also know I’ve had countless robots from at least 7 brands over the years so let’s just say I approach every new purchase with skepticism born out of experience. IOW I’m cynical to say the least.

Yes there have been a few glitches - a couple ongoing - but that’s to be expected and should work themselves out in future firmware updates.

But overall performance has been superb and user experience has been an unprecedented highly pleasant one.

This thing is the smartest robot I’ve used and keeps learning and keeps impressing me with its uncanny intuitiveness.

However your robot shopping list’s priorities are sorted, I firmly believe the F2 will meet your needs - only exception I can think of for some might be high threshold climbing because that is not among its many strengths.

I’ve had it for 2 weeks and every day it has vacuumed my 3 area rugs and 1 carpeted mat with no issues. No firmware update since it was doing it correctly. Haven’t changed settings and confirmed each one is still identified on map and set to clean carpet. I’m the same user who posted a shot of it successfully vacuuming my cow rug and bragging about it.

All along I thought it was weird that every time it had run it identified existing carpet it’s already cleaned but just ignored it and it operated fine.

Now I’m starting to wonder if mine has a defective motherboard and do I need to return it before the window closes??

Wanted to test wet stain detection/strategy to see if it was any better than another brand robot I returned because it didn’t recognize stains as promised. Put same dark liquid on kitchen tile I’d put down previously. At first I was disappointed because I witnessed no change in behavior.

But then I reviewed the cleaning log and it did recognize it - rewatched the video and then noticed it did see it and slowed down and mopped it up and then sped up to its previous speed without changing course

My conclusion is it’s actually sophisticated enough to know if it’s a small stain easily picked up in one pass without needing to draw a square around it and cross hatch and re-clean the mop vs one that’s a bigger mess and needs more attention, which is impressive

Will retest with a much bigger mess to see if it handles differently

Ok I’m obsessed with robot vacuums. I’ve had countless models from 6 different brands. Latest addition to current fleet of 4 different robots (an Ecovacs T90 and 3 Dreame - the Z10, L10 and L20) is the Narwal F2.

We have 2 cow rugs and this is the smaller of the 2 - no other robot has ever been able to pass our uniquely challenging cow rug test. To pass a bot has to 1) correctly identify it as carpet 2) actually attempt to clean it rather than avoid 3) clean it repeatedly without getting stuck or disrupting it in the process (which usually means flipping up the long skinny limb extensions to the point where it gets tangled up in them or otherwise misses them cleaning AND 4) effectively remove hair from our 2 labs and other household debris

The F2 aced this test first day in use 6 days ago and repeated the feat every day since.

👏

Mine just downloaded a pretty sizable firmware update - will be curious to see if it addresses some of the issues users are reporting including myself
