6 years ago today, one of the great anthems of our age, the peerless I Wanna Be A Cowboy, Baby!, was released.

What can you say? This is the song that birthed the Dunboyne County Meath Two-Step; the first CMAT single that ended up on The Greatest Debut Album of the 21st Century; the finest country banger to ever emerge from the Emerald Isle.

It's a plaintive epic, a cry for a particular kind of freedom, plucking its title and chorus from an obscure but beautiful Vine - itself a quintessentially CMAT act - and fashioning something truly magnificent from it, a thing that goes to a place that songs don't often go. It's also a mission statement, a microcosm, a distillation of the motifs and fixations and stylistic flourishes that define CMAT's music. 5 minutes and every second vital, life-affirming and profoundly sad, all at once.

Cowboy is an essential element of CMAT and what CMAT represents, and it will always - always - be performed in any CMAT show. Whether you're in the front row, on the bus, or lying on the floor in the dark, it's a piece of art powerful enough to connect us all.

Let's mark this anniversary by singing it at the sky. Crank it up, close your eyes and let it happen. 4... 3... 2...

By now, most CMAT fans will have heard the news, but in case you missed it, the VERY FIRST episode of S2 of SNL UK will feature host Jeff Goldblum and musical guest... CMAT.

Given her unique skillset, CMAT could easily do double duty as host and musical guest, but maybe that'll come to pass in S3. For now, this will be must-see TV.

This follows TV appearances on Graham Norton (Stay For Something), Kimmel (Take A Sexy Picture Of Me) and Colbert (When A Good Man Cries).

What the Very Sexy CMAT Band will play on SNL UK is anyone's guess, as EURO-COUNTRY has just turned 1 year old, there's a new song in a newly-released feature film and CMAT's due to release a new song before the end of the year.

Any chance George Fouracres could duet with CMAT, for a 3rd instalment of 45 Seconds with Fouracres? As a treat?

Oran + CMAT just keep smashing it. A match made in heaven. And let's not forget that he styled the whole band for the Electric Picnic show...

Those in the know have been following Eggmat since the beginning, but now CMAT herself has given the account a big boost by posting about it on Instagram.

The Eggmat character emerged via the CMAT Rodney Video Project, which of course features a lot of eggs. Now there are multiple Eggmats, each with a miniature replica concert outfit, and CMAT has been gifted one of her own.

CMAT fans: go follow Eggmat and have a laff. If you're not on board, the yolk is on you
