Trying a different approach to controller aiming

I've been messing around with a setup that combines pointer aiming with gyro. And testing a few different ways to aim and shoot with it.

Here's a quick test in COD:

Curious what other controller/gyro players think.

[COD]Been trying a different way to aim in FPS games

I've been testing this pointer + gyro setup with FPS games. The idea is to use pointer aiming for fast movement and gyro for finer adjustments.

Would a pointer + gyro hybrid aiming system feel useful?

I've been experimenting with a gyro aiming concept and would like feedback from people who regularly use gyro controls.

The idea is to combine pointer-style aiming with gyro aiming:

  • Gyro for camera movement
  • Pointer input for small precision adjustments

For gyro players:

Would this feel like a useful addition, or would it overlap too much with existing gyro techniques like flick stick and ratcheting?

What would you want to try first?
