People living in Jammu — do you genuinely feel this city is livable, or have we just normalised the chaos?
Take the so-called “posh” areas like Gandhi Nagar — broken roads, barely any footpaths (guess walking is optional here), and urban planning that feels more like guesswork.
Meanwhile, the only consistently decent infrastructure seems to be on VIP routes — airport road, stretches connecting government quarters to the Secretariat. Smooth, wide, well-maintained… almost like a different city exists for a different set of people.
For the rest of us, it’s daily survival mode. Traffic management is weak, but challans are handed out like candy. Cleanliness is inconsistent at best. And whenever there’s an event, the city just gives up — no coordination, no crowd control, just pure chaos.
Public spaces are limited and barely maintained. Even places like Bagh-e-Bahu don’t feel like actual recreational spaces anymore.
And rain? One proper spell and suddenly half the city is waterlogged like it’s part of the plan.
So yeah — is it just me being overly critical, or do others feel the same? What’s your experience living here?
