Jens Risom appreciation post

JR is one of the GOATs but he sold his company too early and seems to get no recognition even though a lot of his designs are still in production and other big companies like Thos Moser seem to have derivative designs. I picked up both of these pieces a couple weeks ago for a few hundred each and then got the chair reupholstered in leather. Love how all of his designs have a floating effect.

I think I’m going to get a really beat up chair next and try to bring it back to life myself seems like a fun project

Can’t get no respect

Why don’t we as a society respect furniture designers like other artists? I’ve become really interested in all of the legends and a guy like Jens Risom who is this brilliant designer has a Wikipedia article that could fit on a post-it note and you can only find like 2 or 3 of his catalogs online. There needs to be preservation efforts or a lot of this stuff will be gone forever

Are they definitely moving in the vacant space across the courthouse? Is this a high quality bagel joint? I’m a Kettelmans guy but Main Street desperately needs a good bagel shop. Hopefully they will open at 6 am because nobody else opens that early except the chains

Amp recommendations for Kef R11 meta/R6 meta

I’ve been looking for deals and piecing everything together while upgrading my system the last few weeks. Now I have the full Kef meta front stage and I’m using Dali 1 Oberons as surrounds for a 5.1.

I’m about to pick up the Marantz cinema 50 or Denon 3800, but not sure what amp to get. My thought is that I could get a 5 channel now and then if I upgrade to 7.1 I’ll get a really nice stereo amp and use the 5 channel for everything else. Everyone seems to recommend the emotiva, monolith, and buckeye. Is there any others worth looking for whether new or on secondary market? What would you recommend?

Finally a center that I can hear Kef R6 meta

Had to cross the river from Jersey to Brooklyn to get this for $1385 pre tax open box from Best Buy “fair” condition which appears to have been a floor model. Unfortunately had to drive through Staten Island but couldn’t pass up a good deal. Haven’t even done sound correction yet but it’s night and day coming from Dali Opticon Vokal MK2. Just turned on some random Netflix and it’s lighting up the room at even low volume. To anyone getting Dali, the Opticon Vokal and Oberon Vokal are really not so good compared to a 3 way center like this. Looking forward to no more struggling to hear dialogue. Now just need to upgrade to the R7 or R11s and a new receiver/amp possibly

I loved the versa twill but looks like they don’t make them anymore? I hate going through the hassle of returning things but these woven air feel so thin and cheap I don’t even want them in my closet. Any better options?
