Guessing the most bi-partisan fact about Lynchburg.

Blue ridge bagels is the best bagel shop in town. Left, right, center, Christian, atheist, straight, gay, and absolutely anyone that doesn’t fit into one of those boxes. I just have to assume everyone is on my side about this. The craziest part is it’s not even close. (No offense bacon street) I hope everyone has a great Friday.

Edit to add- for the record the upvote ratio on this post is 58%!!!! I guessed incorrectly and there are about 42% of Lynchburg reddit users that are completely and totally incorrect!

How do people afford the dentist?

I need my wisdom teeth out and have for many years one is broken. I have tartar buildup and more than my fair share of cavities (went through a couple really bad mental health and health issue years and hardly took care of my teeth even a little). I haven’t been to a dentist in 11 years. It’s like the longer I wait the more expensive it gets and I have to wait to afford it and it gets worse. And all dental plans available to me cover basically nothing. How do people afford this! If you had a less than stellar childhood or are poor are you just screwed forever??

Looking for a recommendation!

Hey yall! I’m looking for a place to have a drink or two and play some corn hole/bags. Preferably a place that is a bit chiller. Anyone have any places in mind? Thanks in advance!

Thoughts on all the Coraline parent hate.

So I wanna have a conversation with the people who truly believe Coralines parents are the absolute worst. This will only have the context of the movie on my part as i haven’t read the book, so sorry in advance!

I see in every comment section here how abusive and neglectful Coralines parents are and it kinda baffles me a little. In this movie the timeline is just a couple weeks I think, so we see a pretty short period of time. In this period we see her parents and her move across the country, we arnt giving the specifics on why but we know it is job related, maybe to be closer to a new publisher. Regardless, we see that they have practically no money and everything is riding on them getting their magazine published. To the point that they can barely afford food! They have a crappy apartment that is close to falling apart, they can’t afford to tip the movers (even though this can be seen as just rude so idk), they cant afford to get their daughter the gloves she wants, there is some sort of medical issues after a car accident so god knows how much that cost, they have a family car not individual cars, and Coraline is sleeping in a sleeping bag on her bed.

Now of course most of this is lost on Coraline because she is a kid so she feels is as personal attacks and not being cared about, and she has every right to feel that way. However we as the viewers can see the broader picture that this is a family really struggling financially and they are working very hard to get out of that situation.

We can infer from the snow globe collection and Coralines fun and unique toys that this is a newish financial situation the family finds themselves in that prompted their move, a move that no one really seems that jazzed about. And that they did fun things together in the past.

I just find it hard to believe that so many people take viewing a normal family during a very hard time in their lives from a 3rd party perspective and end at the conclusion that her parents are abusive and neglectful. The second they secure their funding they go out to dinner together and are happy and more open to communicating positively. I find it weird that some people would rather make up a conspiracy about her never escaping the beldam than think that maybe being that poor is really really hard and really really stressful. And that maybe when you have all that going on you don’t need your daughter dragging mud into the house and across the floors. Even if that isn’t a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

But please everyone tell me what and how you feel about this I wanna know your perspectives!
