Would it be scientifically accurate to call my snails gay?

So snails are hermaphrodites (for the most part), right? Would that make them all the same sex? And homosexual means same-sex relations. So, if snails can only be with the same sex (not accounting for hybridization), then does that make them homosexual or more powerful than that?

Okay weird question, but how would I attract slugs to my garden?

I want slugs and snails to thrive in my garden. I noticed I haven't been seeing slugs or this slug-eating snake species for a long time (~3 months), but I have been seeing snails. We finally got rid of the spearmint that was taking over. I also just added the big pot plate and carrots, so I'm not surprised I'm not seeing them there. I took to Google first and was told to do things I already have done (leaf litter, hides, food, etc) but I was also told to do harmful things (citrus peels, cardboard, yeast, and flour) that I only clocked because I keep snails as pets. That's why I'm going to Reddit, to get better information.

Another factor might be (probably is lol) that it's really hot out (111°F or 44.44°C with humidity, 100°F or 37.78°C without humidity). At night, it's gonna be cooler (75°F or 23.89°C without humidity). It'll most likely rain this Thursday or Friday (it's Saturday as I post this) Is that it or am I doing something wrong in the garden? I am willing to add ice-cold water (spray, pour, leave a dish, etc). My city's water is safe for snails (different animal ik) from the tap (as of Dec 2025, the most recent report)

TL;DR: I want slugs to thrive but I haven't seen them in a few months. Google was not much help. It's really hot out and it'll rain at the end of this coming week, but I'm willing to introduce water.

Who are these bugs?

Both found in Gulf Shores, Alabama, USA, while I was on vacation. One was inside, and I have no actual clue what he is. He was on the same part of the wall (only moved slightly) for three days. I only took pictures the first day. We left him there because he's just chillin. My guess is a weird cricket (probably about the size of a small mini tomato). The other is a huge butterfly, about the size of a luna moth, found outside. He was fighting against the wind for a minute before landing near the vent. Gone the next day. I didn't touch either of them.

What type of spober? Is he venomous?

Found in Missouri in my hammock. Her grip strength wasn't the best, but it was pretty good. I'd say maybe 1cm diameter, including the legs. Idk what non-metric system item to use. Maybe a small acorn. I'm not familiar with Missouri spiders. She might have gotten in from the tree house on one side or the tree on the other. I don't believe I got bit, but I'm still curious. Sorry if some of these photos were a bit blurry, but she was either moving pretty fast or standing still.

Are these AI? Friend says no, I say probably.

Solved!!

This is why I think it's AI. I'll try to keep this brief:

The vase has a few problems, but the most noticeable is the plants and the line art. It looks like it's mimicking the quick blurring of older AI. The sink's most noticeable problems are the extra stem under the water and that weird swirly bit underwater. I also noticed one of the piles of bubbles has a hole in it.

I'm more like 70%, but there's no flair for that.

Image sourcd: My friend did these on a coloring app called Happy Color (well known for ai in marketing and in the app for the images depicting people)

UPDATE: Solved!!!

Remember him? This is him now

A while back, I made a weevil in blender. Today, I colored him (and added a tophat)

Is there a way to keep mold out of my "dirt" without chemical treating? (No mold in the pictures)

This is coconut fiber (with some manufacturing errors like small rocks). I used to have it in the red bucket in the back, but it kept growing mold and never dried out. The one in the box hasn't molded, dries out, and has moss and calcium powder in it.

How do I keep it mold-free? Apologies about the lack of mold pictures. I can't mix in harsh chemicals because it might hurt me or my pets. I just put it in a double-bagged paper bag. Would this work, or would I need something else to make mold not able to grow? I will keep it clipped in the bag until you guys give me advice

Edit/Update: I will be using this for my pet snails, there's 2lbs of it, it's a reptile-branded coconut fiber, it isn't from outside, and it's current in the oven at 250° F and has been there since 4:00pm (16:00) CDT. Ten minutes at the time of writing

Do you think he likes the fireworks?

On the horizon were the flashing and popping fireworks (the ones that only last a split second) (i only managed to get a pic of one). Do you think my snail liked them? It was also raining, too.

A little bit of testing...

This is a shirt jokingly meant to trick dogs because the two colors are the same to them (don't tell Click what those colors are)

Is he really a weevil? Pic 1 was taken after pic 2

He now has a home in the grass, but *is* it weevil time? He has the snoot, and i think he has the boot.

Found in Oklahoma on a peach tree (on the fruit) btw

Update: weevil confirmed! but what *type*

Just finished this guy!

I used duck down feathers for the ear fluff and a duck feather for the tongue. Mostly foam, felt, hot glue, and cardstock tho. Only got a minor burn, but that was from messing around after

What do you use to iron the beads?

I tried using a home iron with the tape method and it was rounded. What I did was place the iron (a regular clothing iron) on the beads (with parchment paper underneath, of course) and left it there. I checked periodically, lifting it to switch directions, and noticed it (after about an hour) had only melted the outer ends, leaving the center unmelted. The book they were on, the table that the book was protecting, and the iron are all perfectly flat. The iron was on low (like 1-2 ish). I'll see if I own a thermometer to check the exact temp

Are our trees ok? If not, how do we help it?

We have an apple tree (mixed species grafted to the same tree) and it isn't looking too good. We haven't seen the invasive Japanese beetles this year, and we only use a type of pesticide to kill mosquitoes (and only mosquitoes).

We also have a peach tree (last 3 images) that had its fruit rot while still on the tree last year 🥲 The peach one is also leaning (although seems ok besides that) (also the scraped-up trunk is where we put a plank to try to straighten it up. Not my idea tho)
