Floor beds and safety for infants

Hi everyone. I’m currently pregnant and feeling very drawn to Montessori principles. I’m also a stickler for evidence and after two miscarriages before this pregnancy I’m adamant about making sure this is safe for my baby.
I was planning on having her sleep in a next to me bassinet for 6m (or later if she still fits in it), then transitioning to an adult sized single floor bed in her own baby proofed room.
Safe sleep guidelines recommend the baby is in the same room as you until 6m.

However, when I spoke with the midwife running our parenting course they said a floor beds would only be safe from 12m as she needs containment until then. This really threw me as all the Montessori beds spoke about doing it from 6m and the whole point is not to have rails all the way around.

Does anyone have any advice for how to do a floor bed safely so it meets the midwives’ and safe sleep guidance?
Perhaps a simple guard along part of the bed would solve the issue?

Eu Single Mattress Recommendations

Hi there! We are hoping to use a floor bed from 6-8m and onwards, in line with Montessori principles. We will be baby proofing the room entirely.
I’m trying to find a mattress that fits the lullaby trust’s recommendations (10cm deep, firm, snug fit of the bed frame). It needs to be an eu standard single. Does anyone have any they know fit that bill?

Thank you!

This is one I have found

Neurodivergent mums - what support worked best for you?

Hi everyone! I’m due in October with my first. I’m currently undergoing an ASD assessment and believe this likely explains a lot for me. My partner is ADHD.
I’m thinking and planning ahead a lot about when baby comes and how to manage everything.
What did you find most helpful or wish you did differently support wise post partum? For example, despite overwhelm, was it really helpful having someone stay for a week or two?
Did you feel having a week or two alone in a bubble was more helpful?
How did you manage first visitors for the baby? How did you manage grandparent politics when one lives close and one lives far away?

Personal context:

My mum lives 3hrs away (in the uk that’s a big distance), and so would only be able to visit if she was able to stay with me/a hotel for a while. She is very keen to help and very involved - but I can also be a bit overwhelmed at times by her and her strong opinions.
My MIL is very chill in comparison, and hasn’t said anything about helping. My SIL said that my MIL will be keen to help with anything I need but wants to not tread on our toes.
I know they both will be very good at assisting with cleaning etc as opposed to just wanting to hold baby. One just might be more exhausting than the other!

6.8cm subserosal fibroid

Hi all
I’m currently 22w pregnant and have recently found out my previously 2cm subserosal fibroid on my right side (as noted in nov after an early miscarriage) is now 6.8cm. It’s grown a lot during this pregnancy and I imagine it will keep growing as it goes on. I only have the one.
I spoke with my midwife about what could be done post pregnancy and they said they wouldn’t do anything due to the risk of surgery damaging my uterus and making further pregnancies impossible.
Has anyone else had experience with this type of fibroid? What treatments are recommended and likely to make a difference? Has anyone had success and no impact on future pregnancies of a myectomy for this type? I’m in the uk.
I’m trying to Google recommendations and treatment outcomes but they all talk about the risk and mixed success of multiple fibroids or leave subserosal out.
It’s my belief that my subserosal fibroid had been causing bloating, stomach protudance and pressure symptoms prior to pregnancy, effecting my sleep and making it harder to make it through appointments at work without needing the toilet. Despite exercising daily, nothing seemed to change my stomach shape though my muscles firmed which I think might be linked to the fibroid.

How to structure annual leave before baby comes.

I am very fortunate to have 31 days of AL in my work (NHS, UK based).

My last day will be the 25th Sept if all goes according to plan (due date of 14th Oct, which is when I’m planing for my Mat Leave to officially start). It’s my first baby - and according to statistics they are on average 5 days late but I know that’s an average and who knows what will happen! I also know

Either way, this leaves me with 6 days (45hrs) unaccounted for in my plans.

I can’t think of how to use the 6 remaining days as I have already accounted for holidays and bdays etc. I thought I might get a bit stir crazy having 3 weeks of annual leave before my due date – or maybe that would be helpful.
My only other thought Is to arrange a 4 day week for a the last few weeks – which might be appreciated – but I also wondered if that leave might be nicer if it could extend mat leave once baby is here.

So:
Could I use those 6 days after my due date so my mat leave starts later than my due date?
Can those 6 days be carried over to the end of my mat leave, or do I need to use them before?
In your experience, do you have any suggestions of what might be a helpful way pregnancy wise to use them?

Thank you!
