Thoughts on a assettocorsaevo "mod" specific forum and keeping this one just game and non mod related?

Just an idea that for those that do not want or care about mods the AC Evo sub is split out to 1) a sub for kunos game only stuff and 2) another for Modifications.

Because many of us have reddit notifications for AC Evo sub on, and much of it is now mostly mod posts, it got me thinking about such a "clean up".

Both segments are and will grow as the game does, so throwing the idea out there now.

I am biased though....as my ac1 modding days are long over I would certainly vote for the separation but it ain't about me haha.

Which in car view is correct?

Settle this polite disagreement please. In Ace there are 2 "in car" views you can reach when you press F1. And then you can adjust the camera distance (which is the 3rd view, where I set it back 10 cm here).

I was trying to take the photos as if where your head would be and looking out the left hand mirror.

I say neither of the default views feel correct. You have to use the camera distance to get the correct feel of the car once you are in the second in car view. The first one is definitely wrong because your hands should be where they are in the car IRL.

Noob racing questions: People hitting you in races, and sitting in pit

Hey guys, I tried out a multiplayer races tonight. First time i did it and i have questions:

First, It almost feels like people are hitting you on purpose. Is this typically that there ARE a lot of bad actors who do this? Or is it the net code thing in general? For example if i brake too hard and someone smacks me from behind, i would not take that as deliberate, but it seems that drivers hit you even on straights. (pit maneuver you) which absolutely seems deliberate..

I guess i am wondering if in SIM racing poor sportsmanship is more the rule or the exception?

And I ask because I would never hit someone on purpose so it might be a nice guys finish last sort of thing.

Second, in a race once you get hit your car is super damaged. So is the correct course of action to go to menu hit "go to pitts" and sit there for 2 minutes or more? And then continue racing? OR is it better to still drive it even if its driving to the pits? Or after sitting for a few minutes, is it typical to just not rejoin as there is no hope to catch up? Not clear on this.

in the end my first experience was ok, not because i have a thin skin, it is just that it seems like a lot of crashing, waiting, and little racing. But still a lot to learn.

Steering rotation not automatically applied to IRL setups? Need help to understand when/where to change

AC Evo says to match your steering ratio with that of your wheelbase software.

But what I don't understand is once I select a

GT3 car for instance the steering ratio is supposed to be 540. When I select a road car it should be 900. When I select a drift car (only supra now) it should be 1080.

So this means I'm constantly having to make changes in two softwares.....Simpro manager and AC Evo. And sometimes I forget.

Is this seriously the situation or should we be requesting it to automatically adapt the ratio to the in real life car that we're trying to drive in the SIM?

Or am I just not approaching this correctly?

Because one thing for sure is the steering ratios are incredibly impactful in how the car drives so it just seems like there should be an easier way.

Do the physics change between single player and multiplayer servers?

Heck if this seems like a dumb question it will validate I'm going at least a little bit crazy.

Because I can swear that I will practice in single player the same car and same track, (e.g. Porsche cup and nord) and then when I jump into a multiplayer server it behaves ever so slightly differently. Specifically braking seems not as strong or responsive.

So either I'm crazy, or this is particularly frustrating because makes it harder to practice.

There are 3 FFB settings, I have a question on the 2 in game ones.

The obvious one is on the wheelbase offer itself, for example Simpro. Is generally recommended to set this to 100% and then set the in game. Fine

But inside AC Evo there is the FFB in the settings menu, and force feedback per car you can set while you're driving for instance if you mapped it.

These are different, as can be confirmed by turning down the car's ffb very low and still leaving the game ffb very high or vice versa.

The impact feels somewhat the same to me (lowering it or raising it in either place) so I'm wondering as it does not feel like 50% of 70% for example. It is is?

Server chats are persistent across servers, bug or expected

When I jump from one server to another server the same chat is presented to me. This results in confusion. For instance I was in the tracktools server which has allowed only old road cars but everybody was complaining about the F1 car on nord tearing it up.

Is this an intended behavior? I'm not sure why it would be given the confusion.

I would expect that server chat to reset in a different server!

For what it's worth I have a neo x330t. But in the software Sim pro manager, I can see once I select the wheel (neo x) I can change to different "profiles".

  1. what is the purpose of these telemetry lists? How do I use it? Because it doesn't really seem to have any effect. For instance pit limiter is enabled on that button but it doesn't blink or anything it just always stays the same whether I have it on or off.

  2. Does anyone actually use the colors for a specific reason or is it basically aesthetical preference? For instance I think all the pretty colors make it look like a arcade video game so I changed them all to Red so it looks more "serious".

  3. Why is there different car names for different profiles? Is this just to be cute? Obviously a gr86 does not have all these buttons on the wheel so I'm not understanding why they name it like that.

  4. I love that the software identifies which button I'm pressing cuz it makes it easier to map. However again when you click the button it changes the telemetry list and so this goes back to question number one, I'm just not seeing the connection here.

Thanks.

New to sim racing and generally use older road cars. I've been doing it for 3 months and really haven't mapped anything to my wheel other than FFB, so I might as well use the darn thing. I have six encoders (four dials and two funky switches, I think they call them hats).

(Neo x 330T).

Since I want a dial for force feedback and one for the UI map control, it leaves me a limited number remaining so I want to understand in your world what should I learn to use first?

This is exactly the kind of question that AI would get wrong.

Brake bias

Traction control

Traction cut

Esc.

Abs

Engine map

And maybe the in game menu.

Please be nice I don't even own a car with this stuff, but would like to learn.

I am trying to set up the game for my daughter to play and even when I select beginner, which highlights automatic gearbox it won't allow me to do so.

I have to use the H shifter.

Edit: just in case people think I don't know how to set up the assists I do. Like I said even in beginner it is forcing me to shift using the H shifter and will not auto trans.

The same issue is with the BMW E30 M3.

Other cars have no issue.

How come some cars in iRacing have (force) sequential shifter but the same exact car in AC Evo will force H shifter?

Else, if somehow there is a way to turn my gr86 into a sequential shifter then how would I do that?

I've been driving no problem with a perfect setup, calculated FOV and in very familiar with all that. All I can remember doing was looking at replays and changing the camera angles on those. Suddenly when I try to drive my car my view is like the middle of the hood.

At this point this has to be a bug I'm hoping someone can help me fix.

I want to stress that neither my camera settings have changed (in fact even if I put my distance in the camera setting as far back as it goes I'm still way too far forward in the car) NOR have my triple screen FOV setting changed. It is impacting all cars.

The one with the left rear view mirror is how it should be but instead it is appearing like the second photo.
