Car safety

We have a 3 month old and our best car is currently a 2007 Toyota matrix. I am a bit worried if this will be safe enough for our baby. Don’t exactly have the money to go buy a newer car but I feel a bit guilty putting my wife and baby in an older car. The car is in great shape but obviously outdated. Do you think I need to prioritize upgrading asap or am I just being paranoid? Any advice would be appreciated.

2015 LX, manual 140k km

2000 , automatic 90k km

Both in same condition, both roughly the same price, I like the look of the 6th gen much better, currently going to be my daily to get me to work. would have plans of turning both into a project car down the road.

What car would you buy in my position?
