Help me find a Vintage machine with decorative stitches

Hi everyone, I am considering the purchase of a new vintage machine.

My current machines can do straight-stitch, zig-zag and decorative stitches that move forward only. I am now considering adding a machine that is able to also stitch backwards on decorative stitches, preferably with cams so I can design new ones.

Bonus, a machine where a monogramm attachment with cams or free arm exists.

I would be happy for tips on what model is very dependable, best fully metal or with replaceable plastic parts.

If possible, latest from the 70s.

Pre-washing and washing coutil

Have any of you washed and or pre-washed your coutil?

I want to make a hidden corset sown into a gown, but I want to keep it washable just because I hope it will be worn regularly.

The corset will not be doing too much reduction, but it has to hold everything nicely in place as it has a low back and cups, hence my considering coutil as it is quite stable even without boning.

Edit: Thank you for your responses, I will draw a grid on a piece of coutil with permanent marker and stick it into the 30° wool programm (gown will be silk)

If it shrinks, I will nail it to a wall and hang a dumbbell on it to see whether it extends again and how much.

It may take a bit to get that done though.

First attempt with my new to me smocking pleater

Just for info, the fabric was originally 75 cm wide and could be pleated down to approx a tenth of the original width.

Material is poly satin, a rather stiff one.

End result, shawls to attach to the shoulders of a ballgown.
