Should we create a subreddit for Lyceumers😁???

Hey everyone!

I’m thinking about setting up a dedicated subreddit for Lyceum International School students and alumni.

Before going through the process, I wanted to see if there is enough interest here. Reddit allows for completely anonymous discussions, unlike Facebook or WhatsApp.

Please vote to let me know if you would actually use this community!

Need advice from Sri Lankan iPhone users!

I'm planning to buy a used or brand-new iPhone and I'm deciding between the iPhone 12, 13, 14, and 15.

I already know that the iPhone 13 has reportedly been restricted/banned for import in Sri Lanka, so I'm aware of that. I'm mainly looking for advice on the phones themselves.

If you've owned or used any of these models, could you share:

  • The model you use.
  • Pros and cons.
  • Battery life.
  • Camera performance.
  • Any common issues (overheating, green screen, battery health, etc.).
  • Whether you'd recommend it in 2026.
  • Whether it's worth paying extra for the 14 or 15 over the 12.

I'd really appreciate any experiences or suggestions. Thanks in advance!

My mum says my friend will get As in A Levels but not me

I'm feeling really upset and discouraged after something my mother said this morning.

We were talking about university scholarships this morning when she suddenly said that my friend will get As in A Levels ("araya nm A's aragena scholarships gani oya gaththe nathi wunata") not me.

The part that hurts is that I actually did better than her in my IGCSEs and I was the grade 1st when I was in school while she was the grade 3rd I got 3 A*s and 3 As in IGCSE's, while in my IAL Unit 1 exams I got 3 Bs and 1 C. My friend got one A in Unit 1.

She also took individual classes secretly although we were friends for like almost 9 years, but my mother says that she'll succeed while I won't. Isn't doing those classes a reason to get an A??

It feels like she's already decided I'm going to fail before I've even finished my A Levels. Unit 1 is only the beginning and I'm working fucking hard to improve my grades. This is shit and I'm so exhausted hearing those things.

Has anyone else had parents compare them to a friend and make you feel like you'll never be good enough? How do you deal with it without losing motivation?

Should we make a subreddit for Sri Lankan Edexcel students?

Hey everyone,

I notice there are plenty of general student subreddits, but nothing specifically tailored for those of us doing Edexcel (OLs/ALs) in Sri Lanka.

Balancing local tuition culture, exam resources, grade boundaries, and university pathways unique to SL can be tough. I’m thinking of creating a dedicated subreddit where we can:

  • Share past papers, marking schemes, and local resources.
  • Recommend the best tuition teachers and institutes (local vs. online).
  • Discuss exam center registrations and British Council updates.
  • Help each other with university applications (local private unis vs. going abroad).

Upvote or drop a comment if you would actually use this! If there is enough interest, I will set it up tonight and drop the link here.

Thanks!
