Suggestions for magic system that would be borderline terrible for combat, but would be great for physically active sports

I recently got into the new show Dragon Strikers, and I really like it so far, but I do wish it was less "soccer but magic" at times (I do still really like it and will continue watching of course). Anyway, it got me thinking of other magic sports like Quidditch and Gobbowl, so now I'm trying to make my own fictional sport using magic. However, while I am not unused to making magic systems, it's becoming clear that I am more used to making combat focused ones, so I was hoping some of y'all could give me a hand brainstorming some ideas.

Oh, and while I don't need much help making the rules for the sport (partly because I'm pretty good at making games and partly because I want to settle on the magic system before making the game proper), I'm happy to hear any suggestions regarding that as well.

Thanks in advance.

What’s the deal with Barrier Magic?

So I know there’s a guy from a movie (that I haven’t seen yet) that has Barrier Magic as an attribute. However, I’ve also seen some people use barrier magic and act like it’s a basic magic technique anyone can use, grimoire or not. HOWEVER, anytime I see a character use barrier magic, that’s ALL they do. No other spells.

So is it a basic magic technique that just so happens to also be an attribute, or is it just an attribute?

Need help making a power that is essentially like Yu-Gi-Oh Season 0, but set in a world where most powers are more directly combat related

Basically, I'm trying to make a guy whose power is to force others to play a game instead of having an actual fight. The created game has to involve the target's powers in some way, while still giving the user some chance at victory if he's smart about it.

The main problem I'm having is how to make the games fair for both my character and whoever he's facing without invalidating whatever unique powers his opponents will have. I guess I could say that whatever game he creates has to have a possible win condition for all contenders, so he'd effectively be powerless during the games and would have to use more creative methods to win, but I'm afraid it'll end up being too "genie-like" in the sense that it'd be less about strategy and more about making rules with deceptive wordplay, which I don't want my character to rely on (even though Yugi did that a lot in season 0 lol). I want to know if anyone has anything to say that I hadn't already thought of yet or not. Thanks in advance.

Looking for scary horror game with a good story that you literally can't lose/die during the gameplay

I'm basically looking for a story driven "haunted house" kind of horror game, where you don't have to run and hide from something that wants to catch you, give a cheap jumpscare, then port you back to your last save point. The challenge would come from enduring the ominous vibes and genuine scares without turning off the game lol.

Also, not a priority, but I'd prefer the story to not bum me out. Not a fan of bummer stories.

Thanks in advance.

Action filled romance with assertive female pirate captain love interest and a soft male protagonist

No AI or harems please

And while I’m fine with smut, I’d prefer an emphasis on emotion and connection, and nothing too extreme if there is any smut (and the woman taking the lead in such matters is preferred of course).

I’m good with fantasy, sci-fi, or whatever.

▲ 5 r/OtomeIsekai+1 crossposts

I keep seeing Yeonwoo’s Innocence being the only recommendation for this kind of dynamic in webtoons, but I really love a good fantasy Isekai. I would also like the protagonist to be a guy if that’s possible. Thanks in advance.
