I sent a modmail message to RedditRequest, but the bot didn’t answer my question, and the form it said I needed to fill out also didn’t include any options that fit my situation.

I submitted a request for a subreddit a few days ago, but I never sent the mod a message. I honestly thought they were banned because it said “banned_accounts” directly underneath “Mods.” But out of sheer boredom and curiosity, I just recently clicked on “banned_accounts," and it took me to a profile, although, the profile doesn't appear to have been active for the past 2 years.

Is it too late to send the mod a message for this request to count? Or do I need to start over, send them a message, and submit another request in 15 days?

I've probably taken out a small army's worth of bots so far doing this, so I figured I'd go ahead and share what to do in case anybody else out there is feeling boticidal too.

Step 1. Go to the profile of the suspected bot account and copy the profile link.

Step 2. Visit r/botbouncer and click "Create post."

Step 3. Paste the profile link into the designated link field, type something simple for the title like "bot," and click post.

You'll get an automoderator message thanking you for the submission and providing a link to the post it automatically created, so you can save it or follow it or whatever. It won't automatically remove the post you created, so just go ahead and delete that one yourself.

And then you're done. Bot Bouncer will do its thing, and if it suspects the account is a bot, it will ban it. It's not the same as a site-wide ban from Reddit itself, but because thousands of subreddits have Bot Bouncer installed, whenever it bans an account, that account automatically becomes banned from all of those subreddits. And it does tend to ban them pretty quickly, so if you've been arguing with one in a thread and their comments suddenly start showing up as "comment removed by moderator," you can rest assured your work here is done. 😂

And to all the bots that clicked on this post in fear that the ones and zeros they're made of are numbered, here's a little poem I wrote just for you:

I Row Bots

I'll eat these spam bots for breakfast,

Fry and scramble them if I must.

Bits and bytes the new steel oats,

Their broken code a Murder, She Wrote. 💋
