Did anyone come back to neglected pets or homes?

I DEMOB in two months. I see the end in sight after being stuck in theater during the Operation Epic Flop. A month ago I saw a picture of my dogs, and they’re both overweight. Severely. I used to take care of them, feed them a strict diet, and walk a ludicrous amount of miles a week to keep their anxiety and energy levels down. I didn’t have much of a choice for the dog sitter, but I figured something was better than giving them away.

I also used tend to the maintenance of the house, and if my pets are of any indication, I doubt my house has been maintained properly. Did anyone get off a MOB to come back to an even greater struggle than what was experienced overseas? I hate to be depressing, but this thought has come to mind more frequently

How much progress will you lose if you take a 3 month break?

I was doing art everyday for almost a year. Recently I’ve had to pack up all my belongings and move to a different state to start a manual labor job that also requires me to move around and work long days.

This has been happening for 3 months now, but once I get settled in I plan on drawing and painting everyday like I was doing. I’ve taken a few art classes at my local community college and plan to take more in the fall. Will a 3 month break affect the progress I’ve made?

What jobs did you find once you left the Army?

I have an English degree. I plan on becoming a teacher because it offers a pension and decent healthcare benefits. For the people that transitioned out, are there other job fields that offer pensions or have been somewhat similar to the Army in terms of benefits and pay?

How do people have so much money to invest?

I browsed through WallStreetBets and other investing subs, and it blew my mind to see people have millions of dollars—some of them having that kind of money before the age of 35. How is that possible at a young age?

What’s it like being a teacher?

I’ve been Guard bumming for most of my contract. I have a degree in English, and I plan on ETS’ing after I complete my deployment. What’s it like being a teacher? I’ve heard nothing but bad things, but I also want to have a stable career and help with illiteracy issues that I’ve been seeing.

I’ve never worked with children, so I’ll have to read about managing kids and the different psychology behind student behavior. I plan on subbing to get experience.
