From a small village (Bhambla) in Himachal Pradesh, Kangana ventured into modelling, ad films, theatre and then debuted in 2006 (Gangster: 28 April 2006).
With a film career spanning 20 years, Kangana has carved a niche for herself. She started with those neurotic and edgy characters in Gangster, Woh Lamhe and Fashion (1st National award). Then ventured into more mainstream projects but with substantial roles to play in films like Tanu weds Manu, OUTIM, Krrish 3.
With Queen, Kangana hit it out of the Park and Tanu weds Manu returns made her a star. With a box office collection of 250 Cr gross worldwide, she made a real mark. Won a national award for both.
At this juncture, she was offered multiple films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan and Sanju. But Kangana stuck to her instinct and gave memorable performances in Rangoon and Simran.
With Manikarnika, Kangana made her box office standing stronger with a single day collection over 18 Cr Nett (highest till date for a women centric film). My personal favourite performances of her are Judgementall Hai Kya and Panga. The only actress to Have won a national award for 2 performances in the same year (Manikarnika and Panga)
From the weight transformation for Thalaivii, and all the action scenes in Dhaakad and Tejas, back to back - she really tried her best. I mean, we rarely get this rare breed of actresses who want to and don't shy away from shouldering projects. She might have lost her box office MOJO but her performances are still hitting the mark.
With writing, directing, acting and producing Emergency, Kangana showed how it's done and what a maverick and talented artist she truly is.
She's got some interesting projects in her kitty (Circle, Tumbbad 2, Queen 2 and others)
Ofcourse her controversial, outspoken and at times eccentric nature really makes her a wild child and unconventional. But her achievements make truly inspiring
