Insubordination issue !! I am thinking of taking action ..

I have a team member who is generally good at his work, but I’ve noticed some recurring challenges around his response to feedback, direction, and occasional frustration at work.
I mentioned this during his last review, but only indirectly.

I’m now considering whether I should start documenting specific instances, give more direct feedback, and potentially discuss the pattern with my manager before the next appraisal.
At the same time, I don’t want to overreact or make it feel like I’m building a case against him.

For managers who have faced a similar situation, how would you approach it?

Would you document it formally, have a direct conversation first, or involve your manager/HR early?

Edit : There are a few points I missed mentioning:

  1. I have managed a team of 30+ members team and currently managing a team of 9 members directly at manager level.
  2. I have been managing this person for 2.5 years. Have helped him in his promotion 1.5 years back. Last 6 months I have started to see issues in his attitude.
  3. My manager who happens to be his super boss has also shared similar observations with me about him
  4. By indirect feedback, I meant I have given a professional feedback about him taking his work lightly and should take accountability of this which are supposed to be his areas & I can’t handhold him for minute inconveniences.
  5. Lastly the areas (Our work is more of Operations management) where earlier he always took a step forward to solve issues, he has started to let the issues unresolved saying that these issues are persistent and the management should take calls then only the issues will be resolved without even taking effort to solve the issues

Experience in Hiring Process… most unexpected turn and totally unacceptable…

Hi All,
Hope you are well!
I just wanted to share a recent interview and negotiation experience. Two months back I got a call from the HR of one of the biggest QCom companies for a very demanding role. While I was aware pf the work culture (its not that great) I went ahead for the experience.

They asked to schedule the interview without a proper JD and mentioned that the details will be shared during the interview round. I went ahead with the interview. The interview went okay to be honest. At the end I asked about the dimensions of the profile, the interviewer mentioned “You will have to work 15 Hours in weekdays and 8 hours on weekends”.

After a week I again got a call that the interviewer liked you, we would have another round of interviews, stating that the earlier location for which I had given consent is not available.
Second round also went well.

Then they again ghosted for a week. Later the HR called and said, this is the final round, I said okay. She mentioned she would come back with the interview timings, then did not confirm any time for a week stating she is trying to get schedule.

Final round happened , almost after 1.5months of round 1 interview and after the final round, the very next day HR said I am selected and asked my expected salary. I shared a few details of expectation.

HR gave a figure after two rounds of discussion and said this is the max. I disagreed and turned her away given that I had a higher no. In mind…

Well the story doesn’t end here…. I thought the case was over and honestly I was just trying my luck if I can get a better no.

Silence for 10 days…HR out of the blue calls and says we are ready to give you your expected salary but we want to have one more round of discussion over Teams…I agreed… The interview went well…

The interview went well!
The next day HR comes back and says, “ Well we liked you but would want you to join other role and for that you need to give 1 more round of interview”.

By this time I was frustrated and was also not sure what was going on with them… they dont give JD, after 3-4 rounds and doing negotiations on salary say that the fitment is good for other roles.. I mean seriously!! Do they even know what are they doing??

Mock interview Preparation tips

Hi everyone,
I have around 3 to 5 years of experience in Supply Chain, covering areas such as demand planning, distribution planning, warehousing, customer service, logistics, inventory management, and cross functional stakeholder management in the FMCG industry.
I’m currently preparing for opportunities in both:
Supply Chain roles (Planning, Logistics, Customer Service, Procurement, Network Design, Operations Excellence, etc.)
Consulting roles (Supply Chain Consulting, Operations Consulting, Strategy & Operations)
I’m looking for effective ways to practice mock interviews and would appreciate advice from people who have successfully made similar transitions.

A few questions:
• What platforms or communities do you use for realistic mock interviews?
• Are there any good peer to peer mock interview groups for Supply Chain professionals?
• How do you practice case interviews for consulting if you don’t have a consulting background?
• What is the best way to prepare for behavioral and leadership questions?
• Are there any AI tools, websites, or services that simulate recruiter, hiring manager, or consulting interviews effectively?
• How frequently should I do mock interviews before applying?

Also, if anyone here is preparing for Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, Planning, or Consulting interviews and would like to do mock interviews together, I’d be happy to connect.
Would love to hear what has worked best for you and what mistakes I should avoid.

Moving to US from India as a supply chain professional

Hi all, I hope you all are doing amazing. I have Masters from a premium Management Institutes and currently working in one of India’s biggest FMCG companies. While I am earning decent, I feel Indian Supply Chains are extremely demanding with your major energy getting diverted to Fire fighting and resolving day to day Operations. I have around 4 years of post MBA experience and plan to move to US in upcoming years. How should I plan it and what all are the critical things that should be taken care of to plan transition in next 3 years and what are must haves in terms of certification/ prerequisites etc?
