The "argument from consciousness" in favor of the existence of God

This argument is a very significant and thought-provoking argument, and when combined with others, creates a strong cumulative case in favor of theism.

  1. From the point of view of evolutionary biology, consciousness looks redundant. If we consider people just as mechanisms for survival and reproduction, consciousness is not strictly necessary to ensure reproductive success and adaptation. Perform actions aimed at survival, detection of the impulses of the environment, the production of reverse response, is possible without conscious experience.

  2. The idea that the complexity of neural connections or computing power can automatically generate consciousness deserves skeptical attitude. Drawing an analogy between Leibniz and gears, the question arises: where exactly in a set of algorithms or switches does subjective experience arise?

3. At the same time, the concept of emergence (the emergence of a new quality out of complexity) is often used as a "mystery word" that hides the lack of a real understanding of the mechanisms of transition from matter to consciousness.

The argument from consciousness becomes stronger if it is combined with other arguments in favor of God. It is in the concept of theism that consciousness is extremely necessary, since only objects with feelings can bear the burden of moral responsibility, experience the pain of punishment and the pleasure of enjoyment.

At the current stage, neuroscience has reached a dead end in attempts to give a purely materialistic explanation of consciousness.

Does the Qur'an 44 53 relate to the tradition of Pharaoh's bracelets?

"Bracelets also represent social differences. A royal bracelet made of solid gold, decorated with precious stones, can weigh several hundred grams. Some of the Psoussennes I bracelets are real masterpieces of chiseled art, depicting mythological scenes in relief.

In contrast, a simple copper bracelet encircled the wrist of an artisan or soldier. Even the number of bracelets varied: the queen could wear six or eight bracelets on each hand, forming a sparkling cascade, while the commoner was content with a single protective ring."

taken from :Ancient Egyptian Jewelry: when gold becomes eternity

Does this ancient Egyptian tradition have a direct relationship to the Koran? If so, was it a popular opinion among Muhammad?

Oliver Liman criticizes the assumptions of Gabriel Reynolds

Oliver Liman criticizes several of Gabriel Reynolds' methodologies and assumptions regarding the influence of Judeo-Christian literature on the Quran:

Invoking the need to establish a specific rhyme really won't work, because rhymes can be created in a variety of ways without disrupting the accurate presentation of events in time. The author of the text is not strictly limited by the lexical resources of the surah in its current form; the surah could have been written differently if necessary. Therefore, the rhyme argument is weak. If the author of the Book were to take liberties with the content in order to provide a smoother literary structure, this would contradict the idea that the text is primarily religious and supposedly true. This may have been done, but we really need proof that it was impossible to use the Arabic language of that time to create a rhyming and accurate verse. This is not like an argument about the miraculous nature of the Qur'an, which tries to show that a particular formulation of thought could not be improved.

There are many ways of rhyming in Arabic, and the idea that the author of the Quran was limited to only one direction seems implausible, especially if that direction entails inaccuracies.

The argument about the similarity between the text of the Quran and the Jewish and Christian sources is also questionable, since these sources are huge, and it is not difficult to find at least a link in them that would correspond to both what you are looking for and its opposite. For example, when talking about Sarah's laughter, Reynolds refers to Josephus and Targum, who may indeed have been part of the local Jewish culture at the time of the Prophet, but he makes huge assumptions about the general knowledge of the audience at that time.

Even if the audience is familiar with this vast variety of interpretations, commentaries, and historical evidence, they do not constitute a fixed corpus of generally accepted Jewish explanations of the Bible, but rather represent a multitude of different viewpoints, and the fact that the Qur'an conforms to at least some of these views in no way proves that it was influenced by them.. We should not consider Jewish literature as a collection of generally accepted opinions; the opposite is true: it consists of arguments, assumptions, assumptions, stories, and so on, which put forward many comments on the text.

The main problem is that the biblical literature in the broad sense that is used here is so vast and diverse that if someone searches for something related to a passage from the Quran, it is almost too easy to find. There is always something, and usually not one, that fits well. "Scientific" approaches really need to be more subtle if they want to shed light on the Quran.

is Kinesin an example of irreducible complexity

The biological discovery of 2026 shows signs of sophisticated programming. Kinesin, a tiny protein motor that literally "steps" through the cell, carrying loads. New research published in Phys.org , describe the mechanism of "selective assembly" of kinesin-2: the protein does not just move by inertia, as previously thought, but uses a system of NAS domains that work as high-tech hooks adapters for recognizing specific loads into cells. This is a classic example of "undiminished complexity", because in order for the system to work, you need simultaneously "rails" (microtubules), "fuel" (ATP), the "robot" itself (kinesin) and an "address label" on the load.

If you remove at least one element, the cell's transport network is instantly paralyzed, making it impossible for this system to develop gradually and randomly in parts. But this is really biological artificial intelligence, where every detail is adjusted to another with nanometer precision, the real embodiment of the most complex information code.

So, in 2024, it was reported that due to heavy rains, part of the desert between Mecca and Medina turned green, especially in the western regions. I remember it caused a panic then, I wonder if the desert between Mecca and Medina is green now?
