[Discussion] Strategies for staying sane while querying?

Hey all. I’m deep in the query trenches right now. Had my first full request last month (yay), and my first full rejection today (not yay). I was ready for it, I was prepared for it, but it still stings a bit.

Anyway, I’m not posting for sympathy. I’m posting because I feel like I’ve been spiraling a bit as of late. Querying has been draining and my writing has suffered as a result. I just can’t seem to get into any of my other projects to distract me from the waiting, querying, and waiting again. So, I thought I’d come here to see if anyone had advice to share. How did (or do) you stay sane while querying? What kept you motivated to write during the process?

Popcorn bucket collectors… what do you do with them?

Some recent and upcoming popcorn buckets look so cool, but I’m always thinking to myself, “where would I put this?” I have a couple buckets and already feel like they take up too much space.

So, popcorn bucket collectors, what do you do with your buckets? Do you have a shelf dedicated to them? Scattered displays around your home? Or are they just shoved in a closet?

[Discussion] Genuinely stunned at how bad this was

I’m late to the party on this “event”, but I’m stunned how awful War for Earth-3 was. Especially reading it right after the Crime Syndicate miniseries.

Where to begin? All the Syndicate characterizations were way off. The Titans did nothing and left Earth 3 ASAP. Also, maybe I missed something in the Suicide Squad run that lead up to this, but it seemed like Harley and Boomerang joined Flag’s team out of literal nowhere. And I know Waller is always a pretty sketchy character, but this plan seemed insane even for her.

Say something nice about this event??? Or does it have no redeeming qualities whatsoever?

Just got my haul and I’m looking forward to Marvel’s 20th Century book the most. A Doctor Zaius comic? Say less.

Wbu? Which book you looking forward to, or which one was the best you read?

I’ve recently gotten back to reading the current comics, and it’s been great. However, I’m really struggling with Justice League because the team is too damn big!

I get the concept behind the massive roster, but I just feel like everyone gets lost. Aside from a handful of the heavy hitters, most members seem to float in and out of stories without getting a chance to shine or make an impression. I miss when the Justice League comic had a core team of characters that it focused on and developed. It was a great way to prop up the heroes who didn’t have a title of their own. As things are now, the current “throw a buncha heroes at everything” formula makes it so hardly anyone stands out and they all get lost in the roster. There just aren’t enough pages for the amount of characters on the team.

I’m curious how other people feel about the current Justice League. Do you like the massive roster? Am I just missing something? Or do you wish they’d go back to a smaller team?
