31M4F looking for like-minded connections - friendships or more

Hi! I'm just trying this out to see if anything good comes out of it.

I don't know what to put in here, to be honest, lol. I'll probably just go with the flow. I lean and care deeply about structural inequalities and power imbalances. I'm seeking a partner who broadly shares these values. Political compatibility matters A LOT to me. It's probably the only area I'm absolutely unwilling to compromise on.

I consider myself a feminist, although, as a man, I recognise that I don’t have the lived experience of navigating patriarchy as a woman - that is why I prefer to call myself an ally instead.

Music is a huge part of my life. I clock over 1400 minutes each week on Spotify. I'm a big fan of indie rock, and I love discovering new music.

I am also slightly addicted to traveling - constantly finding excuses to travel (work, conferences, fellowships). It strains my finances sometimes, but traveling is far too satisfying for me to resist.

Professionally, I'm a political science researcher, so that informs my critical outlook towards everything. Everything is political, after all.

I have lived in three different countries across three continents, so I'm cross-culturally sensitive. I get along well with people from all kinds of backgrounds.

I love to read, and I'm open to exchanging book recommendations. I'm mostly drawn to non-fiction, but I do read a few novels here and there if they genuinely appeal to me.

Beyond that, I enjoy working out and journalling, deep philosophical conversations. Figuring life out as I go...

If most of this resonates with you, feel free to DM me. I'm happy to chat, become friends, and potentially more.

How do i find subreddits that will interest me?

I created this account 3 years ago, but I never used it because reddit overwhelms me. How do I find subreddits that will genuinely interest me? Is there a directory of subreddits?

Match and then no initiation?

31M. I’ve had three matches in two weeks of using the app, but zero incoming likes so far. All three matches came from comments I left on prompts or pictures.

None of them started a conversation after matching, so I had to initiate each time—which I’m completely fine with. I don’t have any ego about messaging first. I’m just confused about why someone would read my comment, choose to match with me, and then say nothing at all.

The comments were thoughtful and gave them something to respond to, so they weren’t exactly dead ends either.

Is this a common experience on the app, or am I overthinking it? So far, I haven’t received a response to any of my post-match messages either.
