Need help figuring out what could be wrong with my X52 Pro Z Axis rotation

Hello, i got a X52Pro like.. 3 years ago or something, not entirely sure, took a break from playing Elite Dangerous, the game i was mainly using it for and it was collecting dust for a few months.

I now tried to connect it to my PC and the Z axis goes absolutely wild, its not just minor jitter whihc i could, begrudgingly, deal with a deadzone, but it goes completely haywire, if i move any of the other axis on the stick portion it gets worse as well.

I already opened it and the potentiometer itself seems to be "fine" but rotating the stick itself does nothing to the Axis(it continues to go haywire with no discernable impact).

The wiring also seems to not have any obvious breaks..

What i DID notice is that if i manually hold the Metal casing of the Cable socket that connects the Stick and throttle it forces the axis to 0.

does anyone have an idea what could be the issue, or if i am just out of luck

Trying to get a patched RPX format patch to work on actual hardware

Hello, i am currently trying to replay MonHun3 on actual hardware, and wanted to try out how it feels using the OG JP armor value(which is 1base defense instead of 50 in the western release)

a patcher exists which patches the patch(in RPX format, so content meta code folders) and it works on CEMU.

My goal is, however obviously, try to get it to work on actual hardware.

using nuspacker results in a TECHNICALLY installable file, which is also accepted by the wii u when installed using Nusspli(it gets installed and shown in the System settings under the game itself) but the update is misreported as 16mb instead of 160(when deleted it still frees up 160mb) and afterwards i had to delete the ticket for it to accept the offical update again.

The technically installed update loops on the MH3U splashscreen(it dosnt freeze, but it hard locks the console essentially)

The issue is almost certainly because Nusspackers output dosnt match what the offical patch looks like in regards to ammount of files(and naming of files)

Would my only solution be to merge the RPX update into a full gamedump as RPX, convert that into the .app(or whatever the format with .app .h3 and .tmd files is called) and install that???

Trying to Perfectly Preserve Media completely misses how culture actually works

The increasingly common belief that everything must be preserved, whether it is a game, a book, or any other type of media, and that failing to do so somehow “destroys culture,” is, in my view, fundamentally mistaken. It ignores how culture has actually functioned throughout all of human history.

I believe that the loss of media is not automatically a tragedy. It is a natural and essential part of cultural evolution. I am not advocating for the active destruction of works. I am saying that the systematic and almost forceful preservation of every single thing simply because it exists is neither necessary nor historically normal.

Consider penny dreadfuls: cheap, disposable entertainment printed on low-quality paper that was never intended to last. Most of them are gone today. This is not a cultural disaster. It reflects what the society of the time valued and what it did not bother to protect.

Throughout most of human history, works survived only if people considered them valuable enough to keep, copy, or maintain, or if they survived by sheer luck. That selective survival shaped culture itself. When people look back at earlier decades and think, “Media was better back then,” they often forget that the only reason it seems that way is because the material that survived is the material people cared about. The forgettable and mediocre mass-market works disappeared, and so they no longer influence our impression of the era.

Loss is not always harmful. It is often revealing. Culture grows through selection rather than through perfect archival completeness. Future generations create new culture based on what the past leaves behind, whether intentionally or by coincidence. That process is how culture has always evolved.

For that reason, the idea that every piece of media must be preserved forever is not only unrealistic but also incompatible with how cultural development actually works.
