The fastest model ever made, 10 times faster than JEV.

Jev is cool but it’s slow as hell once you factor in the network hop, and you’re still paying per token for a closed-source cloud model. Got tired of that so I made this:

https://github.com/feder-cr/jev Same yes/no deal. Text + question -> P(yes). Runs fully local on laptop CPU, offline, free. ~25 ms on a normal machine. No cloud, no API key, no bill. On quality it’s not far off either, jevos hits about 80% on a set of 999 hand-written yes/no questions.

In August 1961, days after East Germany began building the Berlin Wall, West Berlin parents lifted their babies above the barrier so relatives trapped on the East German side could see their grandchildren, since border guards would not yet allow visits through checkpoints.

I charge $25/hr to stand in line at the BMV for people who can't take time off work

I got the idea back in March when my tags expired and I had to burn two hours of PTO just sitting in a plastic chair on a Tuesday morning. this is literally what the sidewalk outside my local BMV looks like at 7:45 AM before they even unlock the doors. half the people standing there are on their laptops desperately trying to work or checking their watches every two minutes looking completely miserable.
Turns out my state lets you handle basic title transfers, tag renewals, and plate pickups for someone else as long as they sign a basic authorization form and give you proof of insurance.
I printed off some flyers and dropped them off at local coworking spaces around town. The pitch was literally just: "Don't burn a PTO day standing on a sidewalk at the BMV. I'll do it for you."
Now I just grab their paperwork the night before, show up super early to snag a spot near the front of that line in the picture, and wait it out. I hand the clerk the docs, pay with the client's card info, and text them when their tags are done. Then I just drop off their new registration at their office around lunch.
I just bring a thermos of coffee, put my headphones in, and play games on my phone while standing. Literally getting paid to be patient.

The bruises that showed exactly where the seatbelt saved them

These survivors were photographed showing the injuries left by their seatbelts after serious vehicle crashes. The dark bands across the chest and abdomen are a reminder of the enormous forces involved in a collision: the belt restrains the body while the vehicle suddenly decelerates. Although seatbelts can cause bruising and other injuries, they dramatically reduce the risk of being thrown from the vehicle and suffering fatal injuries, the marks can literally represent where the restraint did its job

I Wanted to Make a Vending Machine That Sells Anything Except Snacks

https://preview.redd.it/50rjoyhod8mh1.png?width=483&format=png&auto=webp&s=0cddec29dcb9409066584c4cb771cc76c211809e

I wanted to try something, so I came up with a vending machine that sells small pieces of art and collectibles.

artists make small items like stickers, mini paintings, pins, or mystery collectibles. The items are placed inside the machine, and customers can buy them for a small price.

I started the project because I wanted to make buying art feel more fun and accessible. Instead of visiting a gallery, you could randomly discover a piece of art while walking around.
