Black Dog Syndrome - Foster Dog

Any experience with fostering a black dog? I've been fostering a black short haired german shepherd mix for almost 2 months now. The shelter I foster has a pretty good foster program and tries to move dogs pretty quickly as they have a dedicated social media team ran by volunteers. Normally I do puppies and they go within a week to a few weeks. My foster is about 1 year old, 60lbs, a big puppy basically. He is SOOOO friendly so I have no idea why he is still around other than the black dog sydnrome. He was in the shelter since early spring and I was surprised why he hasn't been adopted and they said it's probably because of that.

He's young so obviously needs some obedience training and so far he has really mellowed out at home. He is a energetic pup so sometimes his excitement turns off people but I sometimes think if he was blond fluffy dog or even a brown dog, he'd be gone by now. We've had interest but not great matches, I feel like they applied for him to want him as a guard dog. We email them and never hear back after we give them his info.

I think we're going to start dressing him up with bandanas so he looks more approachable too. He is also jumpy when meeting new people so that is also a bit of a turn off. He is so friendly and so deserving of a family.

Dog still has soft/poo diarrhea after two weeks of Metronidazole.

My dog has always had a sensitive stomach, she's 4 now and is a shepherd mix but she has had good poo for the last few years, the first year was rough. She eats justfoodfordogs mixed with Merricks Salmon Limited Ingredient but for some reason in the last month she's had soft poo/diarrhea and the vet put her on two weeks of Metronidazole and one immodium a day along with probiotics.

Every time she gave us hope that he poo started to firm up or have shape she went right back to square one like today. She is now off the meds...Why isn't the Metronidazole working at all? I say that as in it's been two weeks to get some shape but not fully firm so I don't think it's working.

I'm looking at the reddit threads and everyone says PPP FortiFlora Powder does wonders. Would that help? We did a fecal test and nothing came up either so I don't understand.

I'm also fostering a dog that actually had bad diarrhea but the shelter gave him some propectalin and fenbendazole and it firmed up in 2 days so I just don't understand how we're having so much trouble diagnosing her. We thought maybe he gave something to her but the poop test didn't show any parasites. I will say she loves table scraps and she has had them for years without issues unless that screwed her stomach up.

Other than the poo, she's normal, always hungry and still plays. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Got two quotes for Lift Master Control Box for automatic swing gates in California. Need advice.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has experience with automatic swing gates. We have a super old control board from 2010 that needs replacing, the wires need to be cleaned up, sometimes the gate will open and not close once a week. We normally just reset it and it works again.

Anyways we had someone come out and basically offer to redo everything, new control board, new swing gate arms, etc. and the quote comes out to about $7000. I had another company come out and he's charging me just $1400 for a new control board installation. He has not given me a quote for the intercom I want yet. He said no reason to replace the arms.

Why is there such a big gap in quote between 2 companies? Seems like it's for the arms because the installation labor is $1900 for the $7000 quote. Generally, is it normal to replace everything or are they upselling?

[Landlord US -CA] Tenant ended lease, left belongings in unit and moved out of the country

Hello, our tenant told us she was moving a month ago and was moving back to her home country. She was a pretty laid back tenant didn't ask for much until we got the keys back and found out she left all her belongings there for us to dump. She is already out of the country. We got a voice note that she will not want to retrieve her items but I know there are laws for abandoned property in California. What do we do? Is the voice note enough? I don't have a forwarding address nor did she use email. I read that I should send a letter for abandoned property to her last rental address which was our unit? Any advice? A bunch of clothes and household items, furniture. Why are people the way they are...sigh.

Pre-approval letter from broker

Hi everyone, I submitted my docs for a broker and she told us to just look for homes and when we want to submit an off, she'll give us a pre-approval letter. This is my first time looking to buy a home in the Bay Area and I was looking for any info I should be aware of/knowledgeable about. It is scary as I don't want to be house poor like a lot of these threads mention but she said we're approved $695k loan and I plan to down $250k. I assume there are more checks done once we submit the letter correct? Any tips and experiences appreciated!

How would you rate a stay with a dirty bathroom?

How would you rate a stay with a dirty bathroom? We checked in and we looked in the bathroom and there was what likely was poop stains on the lid of the toilet. SOMEHOW the cleaners missed it. Then we noticed the pee/sticky stains on the floor of the toilet as well. Just gross. We told the host and they didn't offer to re-clean it so we did it and then she offered a cleaning fee refund which we said okay to. Host had amazing reviews but I have no idea how that happened. I will say they were communicative and responded quickly. As someone that is considering on hosting, I can't imagine ever having a guest clean crap upon check in...

That night, we saw more of the same stains on the shower floor and that's when I requested more compensation because it was just disgusting. The rest of the place had okay cleaning I guess. So overall, she offered to refund half of the stay.

How many stars would you give? As hosts, how would you have handled it and what would you expect from the guest afterwards in terms of rating?

Has anyone successfully won a chargeback?

Customer demanded a refund but won't return items because she refuses to pay for return shipping. She bought engraved pieces but did not like how the letters turned out even though the product listing clearly had reference. She was so rude so I knew she was already going to file a chargeback, she wanted to keep 1 of 3 items but filed for 3 items anyways. Shopify pretty much always sides with customers with the few chargebacks I've had. Any one ever successfully win one and if so any tips?

Is this a charge reasonable for casting a ring? First time working with a casting house.

I'm researching casting houses I want to work with. They gave me a break down of the charges. Is this reasonable? I look on Etsy, and some people sell 10k solid gold signet rings like this for pretty much at these prices for retail or even less. How are they doing this? Granted I don't know the exact weight. Any insight would be appreciated!

Estimated costs per ring:

  • 10K Gold (approx. 4g): $232
  • 3D Printing: $7
  • Casting Labor: $14
  • Pre-Polish: $60
  • Final Polish: $15

Estimated total per ring: approximately $328

There would also be a one-time CAD fee of $60, which would cover all three finger sizes (5, 6, and 7).
