Got hit with a $500+ auto-renewal charge from a software after 7 day trial which I’ll be disputing with my bank, looking for any advice/experiences

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for some advice or to hear from anyone who has gone through a debit card dispute for an auto-renewed monthly subscription.

Here is the situation:
-Signed up for a 7-day trial on September 24th.

-Today, October 1st, got hit with a $500+ charge for a monthly subscription.

-Canceled immediately on the exact same day the charge hit and reached out to their support chat asking for a refund.

-Support refused to refund and offered me service credit, I explicitly told them I hadn't used the service during the billing period, wasn't going to use it, and didn't receive any pre-billing reminder.

So I went back and checked my onboarding emails:

-The welcome email I received on Day 1 was purely marketing copy. It completely omitted mandatory billing terms (didn't list the $500+ charge amount, the renewal date, or clear cancellation steps).

-I never received any pre-billing reminder before they charged my card.

I’m now preparing to file a formal dispute through my bank under Visa compliance rules for subscription merchants (Visa Reason Code 13.5 - Misrepresentation / Non-Compliant Recurring Transaction).

I’m attaching:
-The original Sept 24th sign-up receipt.
-The welcome email showing the missing financial terms.
-My support chat transcript (showing same-day cancellation, refund request, and zero usage statement, and then ignoring to respond to my request.
-A screenshot of my email search proving no pre-billing reminder was sent.

A few questions for anyone with experience:

Has anyone successfully disputed a high-dollar monthly subscription charge like this?

Is there anything specific I should make sure to include or emphasize to my bank’s dispute department?

Thank you guys in advance for the advice, hoping to succeed as it was not fun waking up this morning to this charge 😂.

Burnt out after 5 months into my first role, is sales even for me?

Hey everyone, I’m a recent college graduate (December 2025) and started a B2B logistics brokerage sales job in February.

Before all the “Gen Z doesn’t know how to work hard comments” I totally understand a lot of my generation doesn’t have a great work ethic but I’ve been super successful being a collegiate athlete and nominated as a Dean’s list member 4 times in college so I don’t believe this is my primary issue…

I’ve been working in this new role for about 5 months now and I’ve seen some great success so far in these 5 months. I’ve closed 3 businesses in 3 months and the #2 rep in the company didn’t close his first account for 5 months. After the successes I’ve hit multiple slow points throughout the last two months, either not getting engagement from “decision-makers” or just not finding enough good qualified leads.

These slow points have been so mentally deteriorating to me, and I’m the only sales representative under my manager so the attention has always been fixed on me. I’ve enjoyed some parts of sales (of course when I have accounts moving and engaged) but over the past 5 months I think I’ve had a 2 week span where I truly enjoyed this job. The issue lately is even though I’ve had success, I’ve had zero passion in selling the product/service we’re offering to these businesses, and when I’m tasked going door to door in business parks, it really shows as I don’t have nearly the amount of conversations as I would cold calling and I don’t even want to walk into these businesses in the first place. My manager keeps wanting me to go door to door, however lately I feel it’s just not the best use of my time as I feel much more productive in the office and haven’t really gotten anywhere going to businesses in person.

Lately I’ve felt so burnt out and dreading going into work everyday, and part of this is because of the pressure of having all eyes on me being the only rep under my boss and never feeling like I’m never doing good enough even though I’m working on a fourth closing with a million dollar client. I understand my manager wants more and more business and I’m trying to keep it going but honestly it feels like it’s just a luck and timing game which has been making me want to pivot away from sales. I never truly feel I’ve had a productive day in this workplace and I don’t feel like I’m important to the company.

Here’s where I need advice: I’m thinking of pivoting from sales into either an account management/marketing position but I’ve seen success in sales. My mental health is at an all time low, I struggle with my daily routine, my hobbies aren’t nearly as enjoyable as I’m always stressed about the next day of work. Obviously the goal is to make a ton of money, and sales would do that, but nothing about my work has been fulfilling to me even with success, and I keep feeling like I’m trading my quality of life for $. I’m not sure what to do because I can’t do this long term, but do I suck it up and make good commissions for a while, or do I look into a new job and just grow from another position. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys <3

When is the best time to contact small business owners?

Hey guys, I work in logistics and have an awesome business model that’s free and works awesome for smaller to midsized businesses. It saves smaller and midsized businesses so much money on expenses. I’ve ran into the issue where I’ve called people, visited their business, emailed them multiple times with follow-ups because I’m confident we could help them out. I end up not having luck figuring a way to get a conversation with them. When is the best time to get ahold of these owners, I’m positive my business model will help them out, I just need to explain it. When can I contact them or what is the best method to show these business owners a quick conversation is worth the money they could save on expenses?
