Beach vacation 93 days after lobe piercing

Hey all,

We have a beach vacation planned 93 days (13+ weeks) after my daughter's lobe piercings. I had originally read online swimming would be ok after 3 months. We contacted an APP piercing studio that said 2 months and our pediatrician said 8 weeks. We ended up going with a different studio due to booking issues, and the new studio recommended waiting 4-6 months for full healing.

Wondering what peoples experiences/recommendations are. My daughter is 5.5. She is very much looking forward to getting her ears pierced and cancellation isn't possible without incurring a significant fee at this point, the only sent us after care instructions the day before the appointment.

We were thinking about rinsing her ears every 15-20 minutes with fresh water (from a water bottle) and the patting dry, and then rinsing with saline solution and patting drying when she is done swimming (mostly pool swimming she might play in the surf but will not fully submerge in the ocean). We will continue to do the 2x day cleaning as well.

Edited to add: she will not actually be swimming in the ocean. the resort is at the beach but she will be in the pool. I don't actually think that makes much of a difference though.

Lobe piercing for active sleeper

Hey all,

My 5.5 year old has been asking to get her ears pierced for about a year. We finally decided she could get them pierced since she has been very responsible with her other self care tasks and has watched multiple videos on piercings and has a good understanding of what will be done to her body.

That being said she is a WILD sleeping and moves ALL over her bed at night. What do we do to help her not sleep on her fresh piercings? Should we look into ear protectors of some sort? A travel pillow wouldn't work when she moves to the foot of her bed to sleep at night and discards her pillow.

Any advice is appreciated.

Questions about logistics of requesting Buyback

Hi All,

August is my last month to get to 120 months of Qualifying employment. I have been in the SAVE forbearance since it started. I am planning on requested a buyback but I am wondering what the process is.

When I submit my last certification, do I say I am at 120 and requesting forgiveness? Or do I simply submit a certification? Do I have to get out of the SAVE forbearance to apply for buyback?

I still haven't heard from my servicer about switching plans, so I was honestly hoping to apply for buyback before they asked me to switch and then request a discretionary forbearance while I waited for the buyback.

Opal Engagement Ring: How to clear up cloudiness?

Hi all,

I have had this ring for almost 10 years, when I had my oldest daughter I stopped wearing it. It hasn't been worn for about 5 years. It's been sitting in my bedroom on a ring holder. Today I decided to start wearing it again and it seems the stone is a bit cloudy. I sprayed it with some soapy water, rinsed and wiped with a microfiber cloth and it looks a bit better but wonder if anyone has an idea of the best way to clean it? There also appears to be a small white-ish/cloudy spot on it.

The ring itself is vintage from around 1920, so said the person my husband bought it from. Not sure what type of opal, so didn't want to soak it in water, etc.

Edit: Also, does anyone have any recommendations of reputable placed to get it cleaned/repaired (if needed) in the Bay Area?

Thank you!
