Hi everyone! I have an upcoming interview with Marriott International for a BI Reporting Analyst role and would really appreciate any insights from anyone who has interviewed for a similar BI/Reporting/Analytics position at Marriott. Thanks!

Does Mercer sponsor H-1B visas for consulting roles?

Hi everyone,

I recently came across a **Talent & Rewards Consultant** role at Mercer. I’m currently on **STEM OPT** and will require **H-1B sponsorship in the future**.

Does Mercer currently sponsor H-1B visas for consulting roles like this? Is sponsorship dependent on the business unit, role, or manager approval?

Any recent experiences would be helpful. Thanks!

Laid off from Deloitte after 1.5 years – no warning, no performance issues.

Got the call from D this week and I’m honestly still trying to process it.

I joined D as an intern, converted to full-time, and started as a Tax Consultant in GES in January 2025. Early on, I received a few “Agree” snapshot ratings. I wasn’t satisfied with that, so I worked my ass off to improve—actively seeking feedback, making myself available, taking on whatever work I could find, and eventually improving my snapshots to “Strongly Agree.”

The frustrating part is that I never really got the opportunity to build deep technical experience. Most of my time was spent on PPTs, internal initiatives, and random projects just to stay utilized. Whenever work was slow, I was constantly reaching out, asking for work, volunteering for projects, and trying to contribute however I could.

Then this week, completely out of nowhere, Talent informed me that I was being laid off due to market conditions and business needs. No performance concerns, no warning signs, and no indication that this was coming.

What hurts the most is that after putting in so much effort to improve my ratings and prove myself, I still have no idea why I was selected. Maybe there isn’t a reason beyond market conditions, but it’s hard not to question it.

To make matters worse, I’m on a visa. Being laid off is stressful for anyone, but for visa holders it comes with a ticking clock. The number of employers willing to sponsor is limited, the market is rough, and the pressure to find something quickly is overwhelming.
Right now, I’m feeling disappointed, frustrated, anxious, and honestly a bit lost. I genuinely thought I was doing everything I was supposed to do.

Has anyone else at D gone through something similar? How did you deal with it and move forward?
