Clip im putting in an upcoming video

My channel is named the fingerboard dude in case your wondering, I still need like 2 more minutes of footage for this video but ill be releasing sneak peaks in this sub

What do you guys think happened?

So, I got home from work today and was really excited to see my sea monkeys cause it was over 100° F in the warehouse and i'm tired after and 8 hour shift. I noticed that the lone adult male sea monkey in this aquarium has now got a misshapen tail somehow. It wasn't like this before I left for work this morning. (3rd picture was earlier last week) Im now concerned for him because last time I found a sea monkey with a deformed tail she couldn't eat or poop once she got to an adult size and died not even a day later. Except this time I found an adult with a newly deformed tail.

If possible. Is there anyone who could give some insight as to what happened to my boy? It would be much appreciated

MORE ALGAE SPOTED

So, I think ive finally got the recipe to the algae down. Its took a long time, but I got algae to grow in this setup finally.

I had this one in the same spot as the eggquarium and I still couldn't get algae to grow in the tank. But I decided to leave my grow lights on and pointed them at the tank for a few days. Then finally, the first signs of algae appeared. After that I would leave the grow light on for 16 hours a day. 3 days later and BOOM, I have a nice amount of algae and new babies in the tank. I also accidentally scratched the tank walls while cleaning biofilm off of them to get a good picture.

Should I just cut my losses and scrap this tank

First picture is of the tank currently, second picture was yesterday.

So I cannot, no matter what I do, get rid of a bacterial bloom that has been plaguing my 2 gallon sea monkey tank for a month now. I've tried advice from this sub, the sea monkeys sub, and I've tried the AI infested shithole that is Google many times. Nothing has worked. I dont know how much more patience I have for this. And now i have spotted black spot disease on a few of the sea monkeys ive been able to catch a glimpse of. Would it just be better to move my sea monkeys to one of my other tanks and tare this one down?

My favorite colony by far

For those wondering, the song is Let Down by RADIOHEAD. The specific version is the one from the OKNOTOK cassette that was released in 2017, NOT the OK COMPUTER album version.

Anyway, now that I've nerded out about radiohead, I can nerd out about this colony of sea monkeys!

These guys are doing great. The algae is growing so much that I'm having to clean the tank walls every few days now just to see these little guys. I love watching them. It is honestly one of the highlights of my day when I get home frome work and one of my favorite things to do. My cat also loves watching them.(he's probably thinking about eating them tho lol)

Water parameter tests

The first two pictures are of the tanks I did the tests on. The last two are the test results next to their corresponding tank.

Ive been trying to clear out a bacterial bloom in my 2 gallon for what feels like almost a month. Ive seen a bit of progress after doing some water parameter tests and turning off the light to the tank as suggested by tge people on r/aquariums. But that got me curious on what the tank parameters are on my tank with algae and I wanted to do a bit of a comparison of the two.

The first thing I noticed is that the ph in my 2 gallon is higher than the ph in the EGGquarium.

The two gallons reads at about 8.2 to where the eggquarium reads at about a 7.8.

The ammonia levels also differ between the two

The 2 gallon reads at about a 2 - 4 ppm range.

The eggquarium reads at about an 8 i think, pls correct me if im wrong. Honestly this doesn't surprise me at all.

And both nitrate and nitrite are reading at 0 ppm in both tanks.

I dont know what any of this data means, but I have it now and am posting it here for anyone who may be interested.

Cool footage of sea monkeys

This is an update on my colony that has algae growing in its tank. They have been doing excellent! Ive lowered the amount I feed them from half a scoop of red aqua dragons food every other day to a little less than a fourth scoop every other day. the colony has had a population boom and there are LOTS of babies. So far this colony looks like it's going to last for a long time.

If your wondering ive had this tank for almost a month now. It sits on my desk next to a window that gets direct sunlight for around 4 hours a day. I originally had an air stone in the tank but when I noticed the algae I decided to remove it and stick to manually oxygenate my tank daily.

For decorations I used some rocks I found in my backyard and washed off as well as part of a plastic plant I bought from Walmart.

My shrimp love to swim through the leaves of the fake plastic tree as I call it. And I always see them rubbing against the leaves that have the most algae to get a quick snack.

Overall, this tank has been a joy to watch mature as I see more and more algae with every coming day.

ALGAE SPOTTED!!!!!!

YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHH BOOOOOYYYY, I FINALLY got algae to grow in one of my colonies. But now I have 1 question.

How often should I feed them? I usually feed these guys a half scoop of red aqua dragons food every other day, but now that there is algae in my tank and adult brine shrimp eat algae that grows in the tank, how do I avoid over feeding them?

Is this algae

In case its hard to see there is some kind of brownish-green film growing on the silicone. Im hoping it's algae so that I have a natural and renewable food source for the adults in my 2 gallon

Sad news

Yesterday I fed my colony 1 scoop of the red aqua dragons food so that hopefully my sea monkey with a deformed tail (i decided to name her precious) would be able to fill her gut since it looked empty. I checked on the tank before I went to work this morning and precious was not moving and appears to have passed on. When i looked closer her gut was still empty but all of the other shrimp in the tank had long poop trails behind them. I think it was her tail that contributed to her passing, as she did seem to not be able to poop at all. It's sad but this is kinda how life goes and im just happy I got to enjoy her presence while she was here. Ive included the best pictures of her i was able to get Yesterday before adding the food. RIP PRECIOUS

Footage from one of my small colonies

This colony was started a couple weeks back when I took some babies out of 2 separate colonies and put them in this tank. they have been doing overall fine but I didn't put a lot in there so I decided to add a female to the tank to spice up the gene pool. When I used my sea monkeys aqua leash to pick her up I didn't notice that she has what could be a deformed or broken tail. I don't know how this could be affecting her but she seems to be a strong swimmer and looks pregnant. Im going to leave her in this tank as I would have never have noticed her in my 2 gallon and I feel like shes unique and deserves a bit of a spotlight.
