I want to start SSRIs, but I’m scared

OCD symptoms and anxiety basically run my life—and have been running it for years. I’m working on getting a therapist right now, but with added on ADHD and just starting Strattera, the motivation has definitely not been there. I’m trying to push myself towards the goal of alleviating my symptoms with meds, but I continue to hear horror stories. I don’t want migraines, I don’t want to sweat (I hardly sweat already and it’s the best thing ever… also the ADHD makes it extremely hard to shower every single day) and I don’t want to be sexually dysfunctional, which isn’t as big of a deal since I’m a woman, but it still means a lot. I also don’t want to feel emotionally numb, basically lose my whimsy. I’m a humorous person and I’m afraid that I’ll lose that part of me if I start taking SSRIs. I heard that mixing my Atomoxetine with SSRIs could make that numbness side effect lessen, but I’m still not entirely confident. I think that the SSRIs would benefit my mental state insanely, but I’m not ready to look like a puffy, sweaty zombie.

So I’m curious, what was your experience with SSRIs? Might the pros outweigh the cons, or vice versa? I’m taking Strattera and birth control currently—and just switched from Vyvanse about a month ago—so I’m already loaded up with random hormones and whatnot. Might adding SSRIs to that cauldron mess up my brain? I’m also curious about the long term sexual side effects that it may cause.

I’d appreciate some insight if possible, thank you lots!! Much love! ❤️

I’m looking for a Lancer in Edmonton/Red Deer

I used to own a 2006 Benz and it blew up on me. I miss the sporty feel of the car, but I definitely want something less expensive and more reliable. I’m cheap as hell, hoping to spend under 8k, but I’m willing to go up to 9k. I have a feeling it’ll be hard to find what I’m looking for (a Lancer, Toyota or Mazda specifically) at my low price range. I also want moderately low mileage (-190k…) as it needs to survive through 4-5 years of university at least. Automatic transmission and preferably younger than 2010.

If you guys know anybody selling or have seen anything out there, please give me a holler!! Appreciate it a bunch!! ❤️

I’ve almost been scammed once (rolled back odometer) and led on (agreed on a price, inspection date then was told the car was sold a day later 😐) so it’s been pretty hard to find something haha.

Fun Jobs

I currently work at a grocery store, but I don’t really enjoy the environment. Too boring. I love my coworkers and I love being able to hang out with and talk to them on the clock, but it gets boring when it’s me with an older group. I have nothing against older coworkers, I just don’t get along with them as much as I do the younger ones. I’m nearly 18 (so pretty young) and I’m wondering where I could apply to have a similar/ideal coworker experience in a more demanding, hands-on environment. I have over a year of experience in retail/customer service and I’m looking to go into real estate for the future. (doesn’t have to be a job related to real estate, just a part-time, fun, collaborative job.)

I’m anxious attachment and I think my ex is fearful avoidant, I feel like I miss him but he was terrible to me the entire relationship.

I want to know what I did wrong but he keeps saying things that he could’ve talked to me about before it got bad; or he says things I could’ve fixed in the moment if he calmly asked me to stop. I’m anxious attachment with undiagnosed OCD (therapists have told me I have it just never done anything about it) and I have ADHD and take Vyvanse (probably not good for the stress I’m going through right now) and my ex, I believe based on his actions and the entire relationship, is avoidant. Not a good mix but I loved him and I believed he loved me. We’d argue a lot over things I’d ask him to do and he’d say he’ll do it but never did it. We’re both young (I’m 17F turning 18 and he’s 16 turning 17) and I assumed since I’m older that he’s just immature and never really listened to me, but after the breakup I did some researching and realized he might just be avoidant. I have a deep understanding in my attachment style, I know it’s not healthy, I want to work towards secure, but it’s hard to start that process when my brain is constantly begging me to text my ex. His brain, I assume, is telling him that he doesn’t want to text me and he’s better off alone. For context: he came to me with the idea to break up and I agreed completely because of how he’d been treating me, but it was still extremely difficult for me to accept that we were not in a relationship. We stayed friends afterwards and we were still active, which I was okay with. I think he didn’t like that because it still felt like we were in a relationship, like there was still the pressure of intimacy, whereas I saw it as a blast to the past when we were active, friends and not together. It was weird for me hearing that he wanted to separate because he was the one that started the relationship. I never wanted a relationship when we began dating, but I gave him a chance because I really liked him as a friend. Wrong decision, I guess, but whatever that’s not important, what’s important is that he wanted to be with me then he was the one to suggest the breakup. It was sudden (which i’m hearing is common when avoidants break up) and could’ve been solved by him just expressing his feelings to me but again, common in avoidants, he never did that (even when I’d beg constantly for him to open up about things I might be doing that upset him.) So our relationship ended about a month ago and about a week ago he suggested we go no contact (randomly again) and at first I agreed to it, but as soon as I got home from our talk I felt a wave of yearning to talk to him so I wrote up this big paragraph about how he mistreated me (not good for avoidants, don’t do that…) then he didn’t reply for a while so I sent him another quick message then he responded and said he’s glad to hear from me which confused me but whatever. Then we started talking regularly again (longest no contact ever haha) and one day (yesterday) I asked if we were going to continue being active, to which he said no because we’re separated. I respected his boundaries and stated that I’d be moving on because I have needs of my own that he won’t be able to meet, and he seemed okay in the moment, but I think it hit him hard based on how he treated me later in the day. Later on I was asking him when we want to see each other again (when we started talking regularly again I set the boundary that I wouldn’t be going to see him for a while, just texting) but I started to miss him and we’d been discussing when we’d see each other for a while (even after we decided on no contact he mentioned how I have his expensive suit at my house from my grad, so he’d have to pick it up at some point) so I mentioned what days would work for me and he was being dodgy about it so I called him out and, as he’d usually do, he shut down. That probably happened because I asked him to share his feelings about seeing me again. He started acting nonchalant while I was begging to get an answer out of him because it was starting to stress me out (he was pulling away and I’m scared of that as an anxious so I took it as rejection) then he told me goodnight and blocked me on everything. We have a shared account and I texted him from there later on after giving him a moment to cool down (because I know avoidants typically need that) then he completely lost it on me and said he was going to file a police report (for what…?) then I found out he was with his friends so I kind of understand. I apologized later that night for being pushy and whatnot and he saw the message but never responded, which is fine. I’d rather that than to get yelled at again. Throughout the day I gave him a few updates about my car (it’s completely broken down so that’s also stressing me out) and asked him when he wants his suit back, but as expected I have no response. I blocked his number, which I avoided to do yesterday because I was fully freaking out on the phone with my sister saying how I just wanted him to communicate with me (know to avoid that type of person from now on haha…) but we still have that shared account and my messages are still there. I feel like I’m not deleting it or removing myself from it because there’s a part of me that hopes for a response, but I know it’s not good for me. I just feel extremely anxious and I can’t eat, can’t focus unless I’m looking up cars on facebook marketplace, can’t do my art projects that I need to finish by tomorrow to graduate, my mind is just clouded and it hurts me knowing that he’s probably doing fine out there ignoring me while this is what I’m going through. I understand it’s the different attachment styles, I just want him to understand me for one second and realize that he’s hurting me more than I’m hurting him at the moment. My sister is in psychology and last night she suggested that he might be facing regrets about bringing up breaking up with me because I expressed that I was completely on board with it, and now he’s trying to avoid his mistakes by avoiding me altogether. I don’t want to get back together with him until he moves out (his parents are pieces of work…) and does years of therapy for his avoidant thing. Me saying he needs therapy triggers him though, so I don’t know what to do. I know I can just drop him but it’s hard especially when I’m overthinking things about the relationship all the time, I get bored and I feel the need to be active with someone I love due to the ADHD dopamine thing I assume. I keep thinking of moving onto someone for one night like I told him I would but it feels uncomfortable for me to be active with somebody who I don’t know very well or trust. Tonight, I think I’ll be fine (aka: won’t message him or obsess over him texting me) because I have work then I’m spending a bunch of time with my coworkers after we close. I just want to know how I can move forward and (maybe) how I can keep him as a person in my life somehow without having to argue with him about everything, even when I never start arguments.

disclaimer:
sorry this was long and probably typed out terribly, I’m a teenager with ADHD, give me a break lol.

other disclaimer:
I’m a blonde (and generally perceived as attractive) woman and he’s a moderately short and skinny ginger who generally doesn’t get a lot of attention based on attraction. I believe he’s handsome, but he clearly has self-esteem issues there. I tried to make him feel secure about his looks by giving him compliments and loving on him all the time, so maybe that pushed his avoidant brain away, I’m not sure. Advice pleaseee!!! Thank you guys!!!!
