day 10 of learning how to ollie- can’t do one rolling yet 🥲

having trouble committing with my back leg- i think it’s translating into me having problems doing one rolling, because my back leg just… doesn’t land on the board 😐 i’ve been practicing them stationary and rolling side by side and my ollies are DEFINITELY worse even rolling very slow lol

set up an abandoned deck that i found!

the graphic on it was incredibly faded and scratched to all hell- so i spray painted the back of it with this design! the top of the deck under the grip tape (which i kept as is even though it’s very worn) is red, so i went with some red M class trucks, red hardware, and white w/ red spitfire wheels. the only other skateboard i have than this is a board from when i was 13, so i’m quite happy with this even though it’s nothing crazy

anyone in the area down to teach me to skate??

i’ll pay for lessons with cash, coffee, or whatever you’re feeling (within reason) !! just looking to learn to solidify my ollie/flatground skills and a few other things/cruising/skating in general for maybe 45mins-1hr at a time a few days a week. i have a few videos of me skating on my profile if you want to see where i’m at (definitely beginner lol)

edit: feel free to comment or shoot me a dm

day six of learning how to ollie! progress, and a new problem 🥲

the good news is that i’m getting my legs up a lot higher! the bad news is that when i jump i seem to land too far back every time- i think it’s something to do with my body weight but i’m having difficulty fixing it.. if i lean way too far forward i can kinda land it 😭

day 5.5 of learning how to ollie

sorry i feel like i’m spamming this sub but i made a significant improvement thanks to you all!! i really appreciate all the help and advice ☺️

day 5 of learning to ollie

still need to jump a lot more and time the pop better 😅 and also drag my right foot less/bring it straight up. it’s starting to make a little bit more sense i think? i landed on the board super weird in this haha (also i’m cheating by being on the carpet)

day 3 of learning how to ollie

getting a little more comfortable- trying to keep my weight more centered and time the pop better.. i need to work on not dragging my right foot so much and instead just focus on jumping haha. i didn’t wipe out today! so there’s that

scared to post here haha

first time trying something on a board- got one years back but only ever cruised around. when i’m attempting an ollie, how do i get the back of the board to hit the ground? or like how do i jump higher over the back truck? that feels like such a stupid question but i’ve watched a bunch of tutorials and i figured just posting what it looks like when i try would be more effective.

my time has come 🫡

i quit yesterday after a year and two months of working at my location. i’ve done everything from inbound (my primary role) to fulfillment to front end to food and bev and even receiving at times. i can honestly say that it’s been a wild ride, and i have met some of the best people that i could have ever had the pleasure of working with (and witnessed some of the most questionable company decisions lmao). it feels weird that i won’t be waking up at 2:30am anymore to get to work, or doing any of my other little routines throughout the day. i’m glad i didn’t leave on bad terms; it was something i needed to do for my health and wellbeing, and i am fortunate enough to have management who understands that. onto greater things! i wish you all the absolute best ❤️

just had a random act of kindness happen to me

ten minutes ago give or take, i ordered a sub sandwich from my local jersey mike’s and the older fellow in front of me asked for twenty dollars cash-back. on his way out he tapped me on the shoulder, opened my hand, and tucked the 20 into it. i don’t have random acts of kindness like that happen to me very often but this made my whole week- i work retail and deal with a lot of bullshit from people every day, so when someone goes out of their way even to just hold the door it means more than you might think. i did a similar thing for a woman last week that i met under a bridge while i was out exploring (i gave her a few unopened bottles of powerade, granola bars, my favorite lighter, and the change in my wallet) and i kind of think it’s good vibes coming back to me- anyone have a memory of someone doing something nice for you (or vice-versa) that has stuck with you? i’d love to hear about it ❤️
