Is it okay to not work if you already inherited enough wealth?

I’m 30M, married, and from a software development background. I worked as a developer for around 5 years, but honestly burnout hit me pretty hard. Last year I left my job and tried starting a service-based software company, but the results haven’t been great so far.

Financially, my family is already well settled. My father was in real estate development and is now semi-retired, but he still earns passively through rents, FD interest, and other investments roughly around ₹50 lakh yearly. We also have land/assets worth probably ₹50+ crore.

We already have a good house, no EMI, no loans, and overall no major financial pressure. I’m currently learning real estate and investing from my father as well.

The issue is more social/family pressure than money. My wife indirectly gets questioned by her parents and relatives about “what I’m doing” since I’m not actively doing a job or running a visibly successful business right now. That pressure then comes to me.

Sometimes I wonder: if someone already has enough inherited wealth and passive income to live comfortably, is it really necessary to keep chasing jobs just because society expects it?

I’m not lazy or irresponsible I do help in investments, learn about real estate, and manage things here and there but I also don’t want to go back into a stressful corporate life just for validation.

Would genuinely like to hear balanced opinions, especially from people who’ve been in similar situations.

EXPATRIO BLOCKED ACCOUNT REQUEST REJECTED

SOLVED

I applied for a blocked account request on Expatrio. Initially, I did not upload my passport document. After two days, I uploaded the passport and completed the form.

Now I am receiving this message, and I am not sure what the issue is. I have already tried contacting customer support twice in the past 48 hours but have not received any response yet.

Could you please let me know what I should do next?
