Moose hunting this morning and I called this guy in to about 60m after I had initially startled him. Of course he stayed just hidden enough to make taking a shot more difficult than I would have liked, plus time and temperature weren’t on my side today. There was a cow with him too who seemed extra curious. Hopefully they’re still around next week!
Lots of dog photos were taken while sorting out a focus issue with my ETR. I thought the Instax back would be a novelty but it’s really grown on me.
The weird line on some of the photos was just a reflection when these were taken on an iPhone.
I finally made the trek to this one today. It’s maybe 10 minutes from the downtown core of my city and is perched on a cliff about 80 meters above sea level. Th climb up to this cabin is steep to say the least.
I’ve been planning on getting to this place for nearly two years. It’s not far from town at all but it’s fairly high up a steep incline without any obvious access point. I feel like tons of people have seen this from afar. It’s not often, or at all, that I find a place that I would like to take over and restore but this is one.
Taken the other day between Holyrood and Avondale. I hate to say it but it feels like summer is coming to a close.
I’ve been here lots of times in the past and this one is finally starting to crumble. Most of the field it’s in is just stinging nettles now too.
I came across a literal truck load of garbage dumped in the woods off the Bonavista Highway. I shouldn’t be surprised but the first bag had a full name, address, and phone number just sitting right side up for all to see. I’ve already reported it to the province.
I managed to find the person on Facebook and the phone number is confirmed against a post they had made as well.
I can’t understand why people do this kind of thing. I’m not planning on doxxing the guy but am open to ways to make his life a little extra annoying.
A few photos from this years season thus far. Whether you forage or just enjoy cool things in nature now is the time to get out. In the photos are Chanterelles (Cantharellus), Porcini, (Boletus edulis) Devils tooth (Hydnellum peckii), and Wooly Chanterelles (Turbinellus floccosus).
I won an auction with a substantial amount of analog gear and this Nikkormat EL with the Nippon Kogaku 35mm f2 and Nikkor 50mm 1.4 were a surprise. They were all filthy but cleaned up well.
The EL needs a battery and new seals but seems functional otherwise.
What’s everyone doing to keep the most annoying fly on the face of the planet away from them?
I’ve tried every bug spray around including some 50 year old stuff that I’m sure absorbed into my skin and made me immune to everything but them. There has to be something out there that keeps them away.
It’s a late start this year but looks like it’ll make up for last year and then some! Lots of fun things to see when you’re crawling around the forest floor. The unopened Fireball was a nice surprise too.
Some are definitely abandoned, a few others are likely seldom used.
I’m not sure when it was closed but it seems like it’s been defunct for a while now.
The white and yellow trailer looks to be in great shape and is still locked up tight, but based on the alders around it no one’s been there for a long time.
