I dream of full portability

Something I have always dreamed of as a laptop user is this idea that you "carry your os with you".

In my head it's "My phone is linux, I carry it around and operate on linux, with full access to everything on my home system. I go home, I plug my phone into a dock and now I have my full system available to me at home. Maybe a keyboard or monitor or whatever setup I need."

I know there are apps that give me access to storage I might have, I have spent a lot of time playing around on self-hosting subreddits and have my own little home lab I play around with. So I'm not completely oblivious to what it takes. I love the idea of a linux phone. I have used linux (numerous distros) as my home operating system for many years now.

How far away are we from something like that for linux? Where my phone or walking around device is truly an extension of my home system?

I want it to be linux, but is the Mac ecosystem the closest thing to that/best bet for that right now?

This might not be the best forum for this question, but I am wanting a linux specific view on this. How far away do you think something like this is from being achievable on linux?

So.

I'm looking at the 2027 draft now lol.

Nazar Privalov.

16 Years old C/LW and I quote "The size of Lindros, with the shot of Ovechkin..."

Is making some NHL managers mouths water. 6'4 220 lbs at 16 years old who's maturity has Russian Brass falling in love with him.

So, at the top of the 27 draft, we might have a shot at a Lindros/Ovechkin style C/LW countryman of Michkov and Zavragin in Privalov.

Landon Dupont, a Makar/Schaefer style Dman.

Alexis Joseph, 6'4 200 lbs centre who has been tagged "the sky is the limit".

This Toronto pick might be amazing in a draft with some STUDS in the top 5 with 3 of them in the "would be first overall on their own any other year" type of draft.

So, I understand it's a business. But I really don't like how this changed this year.

So, I went back and looked at the last decade of playoffs. I could have kept going, but there's a pretty clear pattern here, and I'm willing to guess it has been a vvvveerrrryyy long time, if ever, since this has happened.

Not counting the covid season which was all kinds of messed up.

No team that beat their opponent in under 7 games, has in the last decade gotten fewer than 3 days off between their first and 2nd round matchup, until Philly this year.

Philly beat Pittsburgh in 6, got 2 days off and then got fed to Carolina who had... 6 days to rest their bruised guys.

You can say Carolina was a clear level above Philly, and yes Philly were the dogs, but that is also a massive difference in terms of "even playing field". Beat your opponent in fewer than 7 games which should get you a little rest before your next series, and get..... shafted on days off. Buckle up boys, here's the wood chipper. Wtf.

Minnesota is going to get the same treatment this year too.

I can't be the only person that laughed at the NBA when they were slaves to the broadcasting schedule and they had 2 rounds happening at the same time, which is ridiculous. It's Bush-League as hell. But also.... look at the physicality of hockey compared to NBA? Come on now, you're actually going to rob guys of time to heal between the series'?

Where exactly is the player safety here?

So. I'm watching the Dallas and Minnesota game 6 and something seems familiar, but just a little off...

I'm watching the plays Hughes is making at the blue line, and it hits me.

Clearly, Hughes has so much better skating. Not even close. And yes, that is a BIG deal in this context. But if you just pay attention to the plays he attempts when he has the puck.

I'm pretty sure him and Mich think the game very, very similarly. The holding on to the puck. The attempts at spin moves. The passes into tight spots that the opponent, and sometimes his teammates, did not see coming.

So many plays I'm watching Hughes do, I have watched Michkov attempt. He just doesn't have the skating and agility to pull them off more frequently. But he sees the game very similarly.

Which I have to say, and I have not given up on Michkov at all, is very exciting to see when you see it.

I know a lot of people want him to come into camp "in shape". That whole narrative.

I want him spending the entire offseason with a skating coach.

You know, heading into this game tomorrow, even Tocchet said some of these guys need to loosen up. Stop gripping the stick too tight.

At the end of the day, this year has been a success. We were never supposed to be here. I bought the ticket, I'm taking the ride. You scream and cheer and take the ups and downs. That's what that saying means.

Win/Lose, this year has been a success.

Does that mean you go in and roll over and show your belly to the Pens? No, don't be ridiculous. It's a professional contact sport. Go in timid like that and you're going to get hurt. You show up and you go through the wall, every way you can.

Short of getting blown out in successive games (You lose game 6 and 7 6-1, that's a problem), there is nothing that can happen in these two games that can make me look negatively on the future of this team. Michkov in a "down year" still had 51 points in 81 games. For a "sophomore slump", that's pretty damn good. Bonk, Mcdonald. The kids look exciting. A full season of Martone? We're talking contention for the Metro next year. Zegras is taking to being a center now that he's getting a real shot. Briere knows what he's doing.

No pitchforks or cries to tear it down.
