Hit and run 401 WB near Yorkdale/Hwy 400, ~7PM today - I have you on dash cam
To the driver of the beat up Brown Truck who rear-ended/destroyed the car in front of you on the 401 westbound between Yorkdale and Highway 400 around 7pm tonight, causing a 4-car pileup, and then just… drove off like no one else mattered:
I saw you. My dash cam saw you. You didn’t stick around, you didn’t check on anyone, you just erratically merged and took off like the people you hit didn’t matter. Four cars. Real people, probably heading home from work, now dealing with damaged vehicles, insurance nightmares, and possibly injuries — because you couldn’t be bothered to stop for whatever reason. To the woman who was sitting next to you, you had a responsibility, too.
I have the footage. It’s going to be shared with OPP and they’re aware of the incident. Hit and run is a criminal offence, not just a traffic ticket, and leaving the scene doesn’t make it disappear- it just makes things worse for you when they do catch up with you.
To the folks in the other cars: I’m so sorry this happened to you. That kind of impact is scary enough without the person responsible just vanishing. If any of you see this post, please reach out. I have dash cam footage of the whole thing and I’m happy to help however I can, whether that’s for insurance, police follow-up, or just having another witness on record. You didn’t deserve this and you shouldn’t have to fight it alone.
