Why Did Megalosaurus Lose So Much Popularity?

I always found it funny that Megalosaurus, despite being the first dinosaur ever discovered, and the instigator of dino paleontology... ended up becoming largely ignored and never given much attention. And I wonder why.

Short of Earl from Dinosaurs being one, I almost never see it in anything. In Jurassic Park, nearly all the other theropods got toys and focus before Megalosaurus did, Allosaurus easily outstripped it as the #2 big theropod, and it even got overshadowed by Albertosaurus, Carnotaurus, and others. It has one of the coolest names in paleontology, so it's not THAT.

Was it just a general lack of fossils? The fact that it's big but not AS big as Allosaurus/Albertosaurus?

Does Rogers call from (855) 252-6995?

They're calling nearly daily, leaving no messages. I don't pick up random calls because that ALWAYS leads to more calls from all over, but I don't even see this listed as an official number of theirs. Google isn't helping much.

Should I just block the number?

Are There Any Longform Bios of SNK Characters Out There?

Hi all! I'm curious about this- I'm trying to write some stuff about various SNK characters (mostly for FF: City of the Wolves right now) and am kinda stumped in some ways. I recall many years ago there was a site that had a ton of longform bios about various characters- it would detail what each team was up to in the tournaments, the backstory, what went down, who they interacted with, etc. It was written in just plain black text on a white background- like a GameFAQs page.

But I can't find that site anymore. Moreover, it's hard to find bio-sites with ANY kind of detail on the characters. SNK's own fandom page seems very sub-par and with only casual mentions for the story. To the point where SNK's official website giving a paragraph to each fighter is actually MORE DETAILED than the bios the fans can write!

I'm sorta curious WHY SNK bios are so subpar. In the Capcom fandoms, nearly every character is given excruciating amounts of detail on their Fandom/Wiki pages. Every move listed, explained what it's for, etc. Sometimes we know if the character got up and had a piece of toast that day, lol. I'm curious why SNK, which also has a very in-depth fandom (sometimes crossing over with Capcom's) is so different in writing stuff down. SF games were pretty infamously soft on lore compared to SNK's for a while.

Does anyone remember that site or know what happened to it? And is there any kind of a site that replicates that kind of information? Any help would be appreciated- thanks!

I'm a bit curious about this one. I was leaving the MH fandom circa the reboot, then saw the dolls and was like "Aw, I liked Spectra"- she was one of my faves, so seeing a NEW white doll with purple hair replacing her made me think G2 wasn't for me. Plus they redid the old "Pop Star Doll" idea.

But I'm curious if she had/has fans. She was played by Jonquil Goode, who was obviously BELOVED by the Mattel people- she went from voicing the genies to Twyla (who quickly outpaced Howleen in popularity- people ADORED her voice), to becoming Apple White, one of the two leads in EAH (plus Cedar). Was that at least well-liked? She had 7 dolls (more than anyone but the main characters), so Mattel was obviously pushing for her intensely.

I've tried to check and nobody seems sure WHY Spectra got chosen to be dumped- people suspect Ghoulia was because a couple dolls were infamous shelfwarmers. I wonder if Spectra got dumped because "Haunted" didn't do well?

Obviously G2 was a huge failure and killed the line- that seems to have "stuck" to her, Moanica & the other G2-only characters, as G3 is a total reboot obviously inspired by G1 only and the signature characters.

This one struck me as odd when I first got into the franchise circa 2014 or so- I watched some later stuff first, then went back to the old movies & shorts, and found the older fiction was a lot more interested in "Normies" and creating a special place just for Monsters. Some shorts and movies were REALLY based around this concept- I remember Jackson Jekyll being bullied for being a "Normie" and Ghouls Rule focusing on them a lot.

But after this, it seems to have been dropped entirely. Moreover, the entire WORLD seems to be Monster-ized. Instead or Normie communities (I remember a town of them) and monsters being the outliers, the characters go to New Goreleans, Scaris, Boo York and other places, and all the backgrounders are monsters.

I found it interesting they just dropped this "discrimination" act and focused on intra-monster hatred (the Werewolf/Vampire feud; Hybrids being hated). Was this an internal directive? Did they just get bored with the concept? Did new writers take over and they just forgot/ignored it? Or... did they just realize that since the entire line was devoted to MONSTER girls, they didn't want to focus on all these human characters they were never going to sell as dolls?

I mean that WOULD make sense, except I think G2 and G3 bring back "Normies" (I haven't seen much of the lore), and the live-action movie had Clawdeen be a focal point of the Monster/Normie war.

So I'm curious WHY they dropped Normies as a concept, and really when it happened. Obviously the first movie was the only one to really deal with it, but it feels like eventually Normies were dropped entirely and it was assumed that everyone in their world was a monster of some kind.
