Sorry if this is not the right place, but I'm not sure where else to go with this

Around this time last year, my high school friend of about 7 years started his 2 year mission for the church. I was aware he could only respond by email one day every week and (ignoring the obvious red flags of that) we'd been staying in touch pretty consistently

Every now and then we'd miss a week or two but for the first 6 months he had never failed to respond for more than 3 weeks

But I haven't heard from him since Christmas, I've still been sending emails every 2-3 weeks just to check in and from what I hear he's still been responding to his families emails but I just haven't heard from him in nearly 6 months

Does anyone know what could be happening? We're very close friends and we were still on very good terms in our last message. I don't think this is anything between us, is it possible the church is blocking my messages to him or that he's just been far too busy?

Sorry if this seems like overreacting, he is the only person I know with the mormon church so I have no idea if this is normal or not. I'm just very concerned
