Wanting to make a custom coat/capelet combo

Wanting to make a custom coat/capelet combo

I want to make a custom costume for a convention and know very little about sewing garments from scratch. Is this coat too complicated? I'm thinking of the capelet as a 3 panel piece with a stretchier cotton blend for the cowl collar, but quilting cotton for the main body and coat. I could also sew a liner to add more structure. Any pattern ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is it better to try and fix my joycon or just replace?

I got an OG switch as a gift last summer. One night, it slipped off my bedside table and hit the floor, causing the left joycon to detach from the console and the black strip on the inner side to pop out a little. I pushed the strip and ribbon connector back in but since then the L button has not worked. I assume since it is just that button that the ribbon connector for it come loose, but I'm not sure.. I don't own a tri-wing screw driver to open it up, and have had bad luck with self-disassemblies in the past. Is it worth it to try and fix it or just buy a whole new pair? I can't really justify $80 for a new set.

Update: Patch placement

Update: so I placed the patch a few days ago, realizing now that I would like to put a pen loop there. I cannot move the patch as it peeled the leather underneath... Does anyone have suggestions on where to store both the pen and pencil without it looking clunky or should I just carry them separately?

Notebook sizes

I see everyone setting up the passport size as the best size for their TN. I just have the standard size. Is that OK? Am I sabotaging myself with a lack of space on the pages or layout potential?

New to Journaling

Hello all, while I have dabbled in journaling a little throughout my life, usually on vacations as a kid, I never could get really into it. It was mostly just a sporadic diary that said a few bland sentences about that day and then onto the next page. How do you guys have such lovely journals, both aesthetically and practically? I can never seem to get the motivation to write or create something in my journal. I just stare at a blank page wishing something cool will come to me.

Edit: I have a TN but also a nice looking dotted hardcover journal that's not full. That one has mainly been for creative briefs and thumbnail sketches for works but I'm not sure if I should start using that? The TN I have has 3 inserts, one lined, two blank, but no dotted. Should I get a dotted insert or just used the lined one up?

New to proxies and stressing out

Hi all, as the title says, I am new to proxying and want to make a few commander decks and a forgetful fish deck. I just can't find the right paper to print them on without having to laminate them. I have tried several paper types I have access to and have been stressing out over this for literal weeks. Does anyone have any advice? I have seen CryCry's videos, but the paper/laminate combo didn't work for me, so I'm trying to find laminateless solutions. He also has a video on that, but idk which paper to get. I don't have bulk cards to just use sticker paper on either.

Edit: I'm in the US
