Any owners venture into converting recipes to pre-packaged meal kits, like Rana? We're contemplating going through the lengthy process to package and sell signature recipes from a display case at one location to start. Can it be profitable or not worth the squeeze?

Fresh pasta and sauces will be vacuum sealed. Will the recipe flavors change drastically from in-house adding emulsifiers/additives? Any tips, success/failure stories?

The Brewers acquired SS Jonathan Ornelas from the Athletics in exchange for cash on Aug 15th. He was on the A's 40-man roster before and after the deadline passed. What made this not subject to trade deadline rules?

After 10+ years riding I think I just realized I'm braking all wrong. Maybe not wrong, but probably not getting the stopping power I could have. 3 bikes, 40K+ miles, all 3 had to replace worn rear pads, never had to replace the front.

Just had new tires installed, mechanic noted how little the front pads were worn compared to the rear. Here's why. First year riding I had my one and only accident. Slammed front brake to avoid a car running a red in an intersection, went up and over. After experiencing the power of the front brake, I think I've been too skittish using it for years. So I'm going to re-train my braking skills in a lot and maybe take an experienced rider course. Any tips how to practice? What do i look for, feel for, testing the braking limits? 2014 Honda CB1100, no ABS.

Anyone upgrade their visor to photochromatic tinting or anti-glare coatings? Do they shift to fully clear at night and work well on cloudy days? I'm considering a prescription visor and nix wearing glasses.

So much data makes it obvious pitching has dominated batting for last 2 decades or more. K rates skyrocketed, opponent batting averages at all time lows. But after looking at year by year batting and pitching averages, I'm asking, "Was 1960's pitching actually more effective than modern day?"

I was looking at Wade Bogg's stats and his ridiculous career OBP. 17 out of his 18 seasons he had BB/K ratio over 1. TEN seasons over 2. I never realized how rare a feat that has become compared to decades past. In 1985 there were almost 40 batters with a BB/K over 1. That number has dwindled, starting around 2010 there are less than 5 or so in a season.

Then I pulled season averages since 1950 from BRef to see just how and when pitching got so great. The first 2 tabs in the shared sheet helped me visualize it year to year. What looked odd was in many stat categories, it seems like pitching in the 1960's and 70's produced better results than post 2000 pitching.

Obviously home runs allowed and opponent slugging will be higher in the modern game, but why would pre-1980's pitching show lower per game/season WHIP, lower OBP, lower BaBIP, equal or better Hits, Hits/9, BB/9, even less doubles per game........Why does it look like 60 years ago, pitchers were better at keeping batters from hitting the ball and getting on base than the pitchers today who appear to dominate. Am I looking at it wrong or missing a big factor? Look at the shared sheet if interested. The first two tabs, ignore the others. Sort columns by different categories and compare the years to see what I think I'm seeing. YearToYear

The influence of pitching coach Andrew Bailey deserves recognition, big time. He could be the most impactful Breslow move flying under the radar. This isn't the first pitching staff he coached that went from underachieving to excellence in a short time.

2019 and covid shortened 2020 seasons San Fran finished 15th and 18th in team ERA, missed playoffs. Bailey took over as pitching coach in 2020. Very next season, Giants finished with the 2nd best team ERA and the best record in baseball. 2023 Boston had the 9th worst team ERA, missed playoffs. Breslow makes him pitching coach for 2024. Sox pitching climbs to 5th best and makes playoffs in 2025. Here we are with 3rd best team ERA in baseball in 2026. It's not all about fat contracts.

The man knows pitching mechanics and from what I've read he's a great personality in the clubhouse. He also played a part pitching for the Sox, along with Breslow, in the 2013 season. He'd have a ring if it weren't for injury. He's doing something very special with this staff. Thanks to Craig for hiring him.

I'm trying to understand the value of X-W/L vs. SOS. Run differential does fall in line with standings consistently, but I found when team's opponents total and per game differential is factored, X-W/L falls apart. See the shared sheets.

When sorting by team run diff, win% follows. But when sorting by opponent's run diff in played games, win% is scattered. Does that say SOS is not very relevant as a predictive measure?

Are there any conclusive studies that weigh the impact of starting pitching vs. bullpen on win%? I tried to visualize it by comparing Win% to 1st5 innings win%. It's too simplistic to conclude anything but I see interesting things.

I tallied games where teams won, lost or tied 1st 5 then went on to win/lose the game. What's interesting is in most divisions, the best 1st5 W% aren't the division frontrunners. Take away bullpens (or late game offense) and the standings are a different story. Washington, Angels, Detroit, St.Louis would be leading their divisions except when they win or tie 1st 5 innings, they go on to lose the game a lot more than teams with solid bullpens. Look at NL East. Washington and Miami better 1st5 W% than ATL but behind in standings. All but 2 divisions show innings 6-9 have a bigger impact than 1st5. I know loads of factors are missing and not considered but it's a start. Know of any other studies/sources making similar comparisons?

The White Sox have the 3rd best record in the AL but have only been the ML favorite in 15 games all season. Even KC sitting last in the AL has been favored 35 games. Is it because the ChiSox are defying oddsmakers logic or because the betting public still don't believe they're a winning team?

MLB rule 6.04. What are the reasons players are discouraged from mingling with fans before and after a game, as well as fraternizing with opponents?

Key Prohibitions

  • Inciting or attempting to incite a spectator demonstration by word or sign.
  • Using language that refers to or reflects upon opposing players, umpires, or spectators.
  • Calling “Time” or using any word/phrase with the intent to make the pitcher commit a balk.
  • Making intentional contact with an umpire in any manner.
  • Players in uniform may not address or mingle with spectators, nor sit in the stands before, during, or after a game. No manager, coach, or player may address a spectator before or during a game. Opposing players in uniform may not fraternize at any time.
  • Fielders may not position themselves in the batter’s line of vision with the deliberate intent to distract the batter Baseball Rules Academy.

I just found a simple trick. Often I want to copy/paste whole ranges, keeping the formulas exact. I end up having to edit each formula range manually.

The trick I found is to temporarily find/replace the = symbols in the range with another unique character. Then it will paste as plain text. Switch both back to = signs. Wish I found this one years ago.

Can someone refresh my memory? What were the reasons the Sox passed on signing Schwarber long term back in 2021? I remember JD opting in was a factor. Was it payroll inhibitive to make a serious bid for Schwarber or did they just not see Kyle as a fit in the lineup?

I saw a car with one of those holographic displays in the rear window. I got in my car and it was not visible in my rearview. Turned around and could see it. Can anyone shed light on why these can't be seen in mirrors? What are the physics behind that?

Just drove back from NH through Boston. Lots of lane closures with legit construction....BUT

There were like 3 short stretches with just cones closing the left lane. No construction or work vehicles around. Each had 2 cruisers just sitting there earning detail $$. Are there any officials who care?

The play is to do what the books prevent by not allowing SGPs in round robins. The combinations have to be entered manually and there's a lot of them, so it would take a team. Just assume we're on another planet where there are 30 people you know you can trust to not screw over the rest. There are no taxes on this planet either so it's not a logistical mess if there's a big win. Look at the bet in the pic. The scenarios are endless, this is just one example. Just look at the markets, ignore the actual players and teams. Two players to land the 2+ with a team to basically win the way most games play out every gameday. Very realistic to land. Adding the player on the losing team boosts the odds. If it's correlated the odds would be 1/3 of that. Say you play that twice. Same players, different winning teams. Seven games, two SGP per game, in parlays of 3, 4, 5, whatever. For a 5 leg its 672 combos. Team of 30 each enter 20 or so $1 bets. Hitting 7 games is unlikely but there's a chance for $2.7 million ($90K each) if they do land. Hitting 5 nets $120K ($4K each). Less than the minimum legs, everyone's out $20.

So, tell me. Other than being a nightmare to organize efficiently and peacefully, is this a strategy that could yield regular profit, as well as having a decent chance at a jackpot hit? Feel free to suggest I take medication if not.
