What can I expect for media inputs?

Hey Reddit,

Just purchased a 997 Turbo and forgot to check out the center console input options on the test drive... oh well! Still a beauty and won't change anything about how much I love or drive it.

Can anybody let me know what to expect from a stock 997.1 center console as far as inputs go? Are there any of the following:

  • 12v (cigarette lighter/car socket)
  • Aux (3.5mm audio jack)
  • USB-A
  • Bluetooth

Thanks! Can't wait to start driving it next week. A picture would be super helpful too if you have one.

Random bumps and angle changes

About to close on a 997 turbo and thinking about the realities of driving in my city (Charleston, SC).

How do you guys handle speed bumps, random bumps in the road, and angle changes? If I want to go anywhere, there’s a couple bridges I have to take and they all have these weird couple degree bumps where the angle just abruptly changes. Pretty much impossible to get around them.

How do you guys handle things like this?

Agreed value insurance without garage requirement or experience with ACV on 997 turbos

Hi Porsche enthusiasts,

I’ve got my heart set on a pristine 997.1 turbo in the $80-85k range. The specific car I’ve found has some modifications I’m a huge fan of and is in perfect shape.

My problem is that:
- I can’t find an auto insurer who will offer agreed value insurance without a garage
- While I don’t know for certain, I’m highly skeptical that progressive/state farm/geico/etc will get to an ACV anywhere near $85k in the event of a total loss. JD Power’s value was only $50k and I haven’t added any miles yet. I feel like I’d be worried every time I drove it of someone hitting me and I’m out $40k from the difference.

I’ve tried calling everywhere. Hagerty only offers no garage policies up to $50k. Grundy, american, safeco, etc all require a garage.

There was one insurer (heacock) that offered no garage agreed value for $6.3k/yr but at that point, the delta I’m protecting is gonna be lost on insurance over 5 years of ownership anyways.

Does anybody have:
- suggestions for agreed value insurers
- experience with recent ACV evaluations on the 997 generation or similar
- suggestions for workarounds to limit exposure in the event of a total loss (can’t get gap insurance, have to pay cash since I didn’t have enough credit history for a loan)

It seems like my only options at this point are accept the ACV reality or find a rental garage that qualifies (not many near me in downtown Charleston).

Thanks!
