New to me Porsche 2024 911 carrera s

I have driven bmw for a long time and absolutely loved those cars. I worked hard and was able to get a bmw m4 and then recently a bmw m2. I had a lot of equity in my m2 and finally found my dream car. It had a lot of miles at the time (14000) but was in my favorite color shark blue and was a manual transmission which was the most important. I’m so pumped to drive this car.

First Porsche: 991.2 T vs 992.2 T ?

I have found myself in the position to be able to finally join the 911 club. After lots of research and test drives I have found myself deciding between the two cars listed in the title: 991.2 T vs 992.2 T!

Both similarly equipped (FAL, RAS, etc) what would you choose and why?

I like a lot of things about both of them so hoping someone that has owned both can chime in.

PPF and Ceramic

For those who have purchased recently, and who had PPF and/or ceramic applied, did you have the dealer install or have it done by a 3rd party?

I want PPF coverage on the frontal areas and full ceramic coating. Trying to determine the best way to go.

As far as cost, quality, and warranty, who generally comes out ahead: Dealership or 3rd party?

RS Spyder vs GTS Wheels on Carrera S MT

Currently building my Carrera S and trying to decide between the RS Spyder wheels or the GTS wheels.

The GTS wheels would be painted in Satin Ceramica through the Carrera S MT Exterior Package. I’m not sure if the package is worth the extra cost, especially since I’d mainly be getting it for the Satin Ceramica wheels.

Would you guys go with the RS Spyder wheels or the GTS wheels for this build? Having a hard time deciding which look better.

2026 GT3 Touring w/Lightweight pkg

SOLD and sad to see her go!

Under 400 miles, full PPF…did I let her go too early?

“Allocations”

Somebody please explain to me how a company that has its profitability plummeting has waiting lists for their one model that’s selling beyond their production capacity.

I’ve been considering ordering a new 911, but this “allocations” bullshit is pushing me in other directions… AMG, Audi RS, Corvette.

992.1 GT3 track day after DIY Dundon exhaust install

A couple weeks ago I did a track day with my freshly installed Dundon exhaust system (headers + high flow cats + steel muffler).

Here’s my take away:
- It’s just nuts and bolts. If it isn’t a daily driver and you can take your time with the install, I recommend it. It’s nice to tinker and get a little more familiar with the car.

- Exhaust systems are mostly for the street. On track you’re at 6k - 9k rpm the whole time and focused on the driving so you can’t tell the difference. I’ve done around a dozen track days in this car.

- Dundon claims low drone and no CEL. So far, plenty of drone and I do have a cat efficiency CEL lol.

I’m still amazed at how fantastic this car is to drive on the track. I wish there were more rear engine options out there.

Can anyone guess what track is in the photo?

Anyone get PSMP +3 covered by Porsche for extremely long delay?

For those who got their allocation delayed by a lot of months, did you get any compensation or free credit from Porsche like PSMP +3? If so, how long was your delay compared to when you were originally expected to receive your car?

If you got a PSMP plus a different number, please comment below also with the exact length that you got and how long your delay was.

CPO Negotiations

Good morning,

What’s a realistic expectation on what percentage you can negotiate off the cost of a CPO 911.I know this is a loaded question, but would like to gauge what others have been able to accomplish.
For context, I’m looking at 2020-2025 Carrera S models (PDK) in the 120-160 range.
FYI- originally went the new route but there was zero wiggle room on base/s models from the dealerships I visited in the Tri-state.

Located in NorthEast.

Thanks!

Rear light scratch repair (992.2)

A metal something fell on the rear of the car while in the garage. The PPF saved the paint, but I noticed a scratch on the rear light. Does anyone know if this is repairable (some sort of sanding/buffing dark magic?), or am I going to need to eat the many thousands of dollars for a new tail light?

Recently purchased a 997.1 that has a 991.2/Macan steering wheel, but just discovered the back of the airbag part is all rusted. Need to replace?

Just purchased a 997.1 and needed to fix the alignment of the 991.2/Macan steering wheel that was installed on the car, but when I took off the airbag I discovered that the whole backside was rusted. There haven't been any error messages on the car regarding the airbag so I never had any concerns about it until now.

I've heard that some airbags are suseptible to rust in more humid climates, but this looks worse than other pictures I've seen.

Is this still good to use? Or would it need to be replaced?

Irish Green 1965-Anniversary Gift Help

My boyfriend has spent the past 3 years having a 1965 he purchased restored. It’s the same color and model as this one, but it has a camel interior. The car will be finally finished in the coming weeks.

Our anniversary is coming up. I thought I could give him a gift card to get a custom pair of driving gloves made. But I hear that’s a bad gift. Any feedback if anyone actually uses or would appreciate driving gloves?

If not, any gift ideas for the special occasion of this car being finished that is under $1,500 would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Carrera T <--> Carrera S MT swap

So after waiting for 6 months I finally got my T allocation last week. But then, the Carrera S MT came out the same week. My local Porsche dealer does not have a Carrera S MT allocation right now, but put me on top of the wait list.

What would you do?
