Heavy Metal ‘n Booch

Heavy Metal ‘n Booch

Not that kind of heavy metal, but the horns sit right and the wild nonsense makes sense with a little booch to wash it down.

I listened to music for 10 hours today.

I just got this serviced Fisher 500C. Everything sounds great. Andy Shauf, Bill Callahan, Kendrick, Sade… I’m a teacher, and my kids are with their grandparents, so I had the luxury of listening to music all day. Because the right speaker is closer to a wall, I had to turn the balance a little right to center the image, but I had a thoroughly enjoyable day listening to J. Tillman, Massive Attack, Tony Rolando synth tapes, and the War on Drugs. I’ve gotta revisit their later stuff, some of the streams sounded sweet.

Any recommendations of music that might sound particularly good on the Fisher? It’s been fun to listen to what I have with new results.

Cozy Tubes

The first quiet listening morning with a new-to-me Fisher 500c. It sounds like these songwriters and performers are hanging out in here. Thanks to Hawthorne Stereo in Seattle for the positive experience.

Looking for direction with the rest of my life.

My life is settled, but I’d still like to do something great. Can y’all help point me in directions? What’s ahead for me? Any guidance is appreciated, thank you.

Where to go next?

Hey Jazz life coaches: this is my first honest dive into jazz; Dolphy has captured my imagination, along with many of these other weirdos. Do you have any other harmonically quirky suggestions?

Help! I’m getting into Jazz!

It’s been about a month, and listening to “Kind of Blue” every morning over Spring Break plunged me into “Mwandishi”, and now, Jazz is all I want to listen to. Will I ever make it back out to normal music land?
