[OC] Powerful additive/spectral VST synth "Spektral" (Beta/Demo)

Hey! I'm Jaron Sweder, a music producer and software developer. I have been working on this incredibly powerful additive/spectral VST synth called "Spektral" for the past 2 years. It's still in beta, but it's finally at a stage where I can get other people to play around with it.

The little demo video shows a simple EDM bass and some simple drums. But this synth is also great for percussion, complex ambiences, and you can even use it as a vocoder using the sidechain input.

The core of this synth is a 'spectral table'. This is a 512x512 table of spectral data. You can load an audio sample into this, or even an image. This data can then be manipulated and modulated in many different ways. And eventually it will end up interacting with 1 of 3 'spectral parameters'. For the default 'Additive' mode, these parameters are level, frequency, and phase. This means you get precise control over the level, frequency, and phase of all individual 576 partials that are generated in the 'Additive' mode. There's also a 'Resonator' mode, which is a bank of 512 resonators, where you get control over the level, frequency, and decay time of each individual resonator. This mode approaches physical modeling, and with a bit of messing around you can make organic sounding real instruments. And because it's all coming from these spectral tables, you can make it as simple or as complicated as you want. You can just load a random sample into it and mess around. Or craft a very specific 512x512 image file to do exactly what you want. It's also very easy to make variations of the same sound, just load a different sample into the table! Check the user manual for more information, which can be found in the link below.

The demo is available for MacOS and Windows, both downloads can be found on this page, as well as a link to the user manual. It also comes with a handful of presets to play around with that show what it's capable of: https://shop.kaixo.me/product/Spektral

If you have any questions/feedback/suggestions/issues, feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM!

DISCLAIMER: I want to be clear that this is a demo version, it will not save its state, and you cannot export audio from your DAW in this version. Unfortunately, given how much time I've put into this insanely powerful and highly optimized synth, I can't afford to make it available for free. Hence the limitations. I know this sucks, and if I didn't need the money I'd make it free in an instant. But such is life...

Which city did I visit?

Went to this beautiful country last summer, and this was my favorite city I visited. Incredibly views in all directions.

[FOR HIRE] I love making the air wiggle

Hey, I'm Jaron Sweder, a 25 year old music producer and sound designer from The Netherlands. I'm looking for any project that needs music or sound design.

I have been making electronic music since I was 15, and started focusing on other genres like Orchestral, Electronic Metal, and anything else that I found interesting for the last 4-5 years. I've released with several labels under my artist alias 'Kaixo', and did official remixes for big artists like Celldweller, The Browning, The Anix, and more.

I also have a degree in Computer Science, and I have experience with FMOD. So if you need help integrating the sound into your project in any way, I can definitely help out with that!

My interests lie mostly with sci-fi or horror. I love writing energetic, high-pace music, and creating ambiences to set the tone of an environment. But I am always looking for new challenges!

Here's my portfolio, if it doesn't contain exactly what you're looking for, I am always open to create a custom demo for your specific project, to see if it could be a match! https://jaronsweder.com/portfolio

In case you want to check out my artist alias: https://www.youtube.com/@kaixo

Just send me a DM and we can discuss any details, I would love to help take your project to the next level! Or if you prefer you can also email me at jaron@sweder.music

[OC] Original soundtrack for an OST jam on Itch

Hey just wanted to share this OST I wrote for an itch.io OST jam that happened last month. The challenge was to write 1 hour of music within a month. It's a mix of electronic and orchestral, with massive inspiration taken from the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided OST.

If you're a game dev looking for music or sound design, my DMs are open! I've been making music for 10 years, and have experience with FMOD. Here's my full portfolio: https://jaronsweder.com/portfolio

[FOR HIRE] Composer looking for indie dev team

I'm a music producer and composer with over a decade of experience making air wiggle. I'm looking to join any indie developer teams who are working on a game that needs music. I do electronic music, metal, ambient, and orchestral. Just shoot me a DM telling me about the game and the team, and we'll take it from there!

Will also mention that I have a degree in Computer Science, so I can help out with integrating any music system into the game if necessary.

Bedroom setup with homemade acoustic panels

Single-desk bedroom setup with homemade acoustic panels.

The acoustic panels are a simple wooden frame with rockwool inside, covered in a black fabric. Took a couple hours to make all 5 of them, they are exactly the size that the rockwool panels came in, so it was really simple to put together.

Got a small little strip of Eurorack modules I use to do a bit of sound design, mostly for the analog distortion. And because physical knobs > digital knobs of course.

Most of the magic happens inside the box, got 2 ultra-wide displays. Use the top one mainly for analyzers. Small little portable monitor on the side that always shows my own custom audio mixer, for routing audio between applications. I use Fruity Wavecandy for the analyzers, so I use a loopback channel in my Focusrite 18i20 to loop audio from Ableton back into my mixer, so I can route it into FL Studio. That way I can have Ableton run on the Focusrite ASIO directly for minimal latency.

Free Spectral Rotator VST (For Windows and MacOS)

I created a simple free VST plugin that can rotate and flip the frequency spectrum of any sample you load into it. It's an offline processor, which means it doesn't do any realtime processing. You just drag your sample into the plugin, rotate the spectrum, and drag it back into your DAW. It's great to just mess around with, and it can create some cool weird textures.

Another thing you can do is rotate your sample once, drag it into your DAW, apply some effects, bounce it to audio, and then drag it back into SpectralRotator and rotate it back. This will transform time-domain effects into a frequency-domain effect. Just make sure to set the proper selection length and start, otherwise you will introduce some frequency shifting.
